Any chance of getting these in a lovely spreadsheet? There's a lot of scrolling back and forth involved now and those spreadsheets always make it wonderfully visual and easy to see what's what.

Damn, the complete opening scene is so incredibly badass. What a massive highlight you would never have known Williams edited the hell out of! He's just so fucking brutal with his album edits. I love both version!

I'm forgoing the micro editing and just moving around some tracks and leaving others as alternates at the end of my Force Awakens playlist. One edit I did make was I separated Jedi Steps so that lovely melody has its own track and the finale starts with The Force Theme before the credits start.

I´m very happy that we have this, with extra music and alternates, now I have to do an edit. But I tthink, the OST is a MUCH better listening experience than the promo. Send the album to the Academy!!

I'm being torn apart by the FYC. You really need both, but it's such a mess to assemble. At least we have it!

Ignoring the lower quality, this is pretty much just what you hear in the room.  Not much mixing or mastering, if any.

The Abduction is definitely better on the FYC

Is this the biggest amount of unreleased music we got from a FYC? (except A.I.)

Yep, the OST is mastered while the FYC audio is straight from the session mix and un-tinkered-with.
 
Unfortunately being only 160kbps we lose so much quality sticking to primarily FYC material.
 
We need a lossless CD rip!

I noticed when I was editing cues that the FYC has more "dynamic range" and the OST is mixed very loud , almost clipping in parts

Yea a lossless rip of the FYC CD will be amazing.  Then we just need experts to edit in OST stuff that isn't on the FYC for us

I think the FYC sounds surprisingly good given that it's 160kbps.
 
I've said before that I think the OST sounds amazing but there's little details that I'm picking up on the FYC that I've not picked up on in the official release. I suppose the additional mastering might have smothered some of these out. Love to hear it in better quality.

What do you guys think of the SOUND QUALITY difference between the two releases?

I listened to hte whole FYC while driving in the car last night, and I thought it had less "punch" than the OST master.  Of course, that could simply be due to the 160kbps quality.
 
I'd guess the FYC represents the raw sessions in their film mix (/edit), while the OST could have additional mastering (reverb, etc) done to it....

It's amazing that we got an FYC with SO MUCH unreleased highlights, and not just a few bits and bobs of stuff microedited out of the OST.  We got so lucky!

 
Funny, I saw this post last night right around when I was thinking of coming in and posting something similar.
 
Basically: I LOVE having these two cues combined here!  There's a drive and momentum that carries through when listened together (which is what Williams intended anyway).  Especially "The Falcon" part, by the time you get to the big action part of that you're just so invested in what's going on!

All this momentum is lost on the OST where Williams breaks it up with a slow, unrelated concert arrangement in between.  I dunno what he was thinking there.

Gah, this already makes my CD redundant though. That's fucking annoying. 

Well thank heavens we don't have to wait 20+ years for this anymore!

Blissful ignorance with this score. Who knows what exists in the hour of deleted music. 

I read on some insiders post on Conrad Popes facebook comments that a 2CD Expanded set is confirmed and exepected  in 1st qtr 2016. The source claimed as an insider news. Ofcourse, I cant confirm its authenticity, BUT Given the enourmous success of the movie and rumblings of yet another Oscar nomination, I suspect this may be true.Lets wait and see. This isnt stingy business values like Lucasfilm anymore..lol 

They had more scoring sessions than any other Hollywood film ever made and they STILL tracked music from an entirely different score??

it's cool that with the FYC we now have the entire opening sequence of the movie.
 
Not to mention by combining FYC with OST we have the entire ending of the movie, from "Bombers Away" to the end, with the small exception of the short Snoke cue when he tells Hux to tell Ren its "time to complete his training".
 
Not to mention the FYC contained the THREE MOST REQUESTED CUES in the entire score!  Those being Poe's arriving at Takodana ("The Resistance"), the bombing run ("The Bombing Run"), and the X-Wings destroying the oscillator ("On The Inside" first minute).

The biggest highlight still unreleased is the short cue for the Falcon's crash landing on The Starkiller.
