  1. Sort of like this, then? If I could count the number of times I've spilled my seed to that image... Ah, memories.
  2. The first episode where I really positively noticed the music was in season 4. Really? I liked the music from virtually the start. The first episode that really caught my ear was "The Dreamscape" though. I HAD to have that music. I was lucky it was put on the CD. Then again, Seiter said that he's proudest of that score so it's not really luck as much as it's good taste, thank you very much. Seriously though, you never noticed the quality until season 4? The "coming storm" theme and Peter's theme never caught your ear? Interesting... I couldn't stand the music for Lost when I got it from the library. Then again, I never watched the show.
  3. Only five? Okay, let me try... - The Shadow - Starship Troopers - Alien 3 - Judge Dredd and, we'll count these as one... - Star Wars
  4. Sad face. How could season 2 not sell well? The music from "Over There" is terrific.
  5. I'd love it if Varese released Fringe: Season 3. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Do it Varese! You know you want to! I'm lookin' at you, Robert Townson.
  6. The Empire Strikes Back Temple of Doom E. T. Attack of the Clones Jurassic Park Oh, wait, those are my favorites. Crap.
  7. I think I got more enjoyment out of the "True Birth of Darth Vader" video than I did from all of the prequels combined. What was Lucas thinking when he had Vader scream, "Noooooooooooooooooooo!" and why didn't anyone tell him what a terrible idea it was?
  8. Obviously I do... I brought it up. As to it being awful, that's an opinion. And not mine's!
  9. Unless they put What Shall We Do Now?, Point Me at the Sky and the extended version of The Hero's Return out with these releases, what's the point of touting this as much as they are? We know the material exists. Why act as if it doesn't? I don't get it. Pink Floyd deserves the treatment The Beatles got, but I'm sure that this is ultimately what they want/don't want, depending on how you look at it.
  10. I'd always wondered what he originally wrote. It doesn't disappoint. That we're stuck with a very tacked-in rendition of the Imperial March does. Was this version actually recorded by the LSO before it was replaced?
  11. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I don't remember having heard this. What would that be like? Probably as butchered in film as Goldsmith's. He probably would have written the entire thing for 16 tubas, a mini moog and two triangles. Damn. That would shake 'em up!
  12. Here's my LLL Batman custom cover. I don't like that they reused the Batwing silhouette over the moon, but it looks better than the original album. Still not my preference. http://i38.tinypic.com/29dbj35.jpg
  13. Shakespeare in Love by Stephen Warbeck. I actually became a fan of his after watching Mystery Men. Sure, it's nothing monumental, but a far better score than heard in most comedies. Anywho, to the score I actually listened to. I got this one from the library and didn't fancy it too much at the time, though I remembered it had a nice opening piece. When I found it at a Goodwill for $1 I had to get it. Something told me to. I've tried to be less flighty with my score purchases and felt like just another bottle cap collector. Then I re-watched Proof (2005) and greatly enjoyed his music. Having failed to listen to Shakespeare in Love due to my previous apprehension, I immediately wanted to give the disc a whirl after Proof. While it's not a masterpiece of a score, and many will undoubtedly complain that Mulan or some other movie should have won the Oscar, I haven't seen the film. Though, on disc, it's a nice work that definitely puts you in mind of none other than Warbeck. In a good way. It's got some nice themes and some really compelling motives (the bell motive for the death-related scenes is a good example). If I were to direct a film tomorrow, I wouldn't write him off the list. His music tends to be jaunty, but without the wallpaper effect that I often get from Thomas Newman. Blamo.

  15. Poor choice of words, sir, considering the fantasies Luke probably indulged in prior to the revelation that this beauty was actual his sister. I already alluded to that fact in my original post.

  17. I believe that photo was taken of him during the now infamous John Williams nude shoot. You can really see him eying the maestro's baton. And, just from his expression, you can tell that the guy in the background is conducting a concert of his own.
  18. True story! The appearance during the end credits of Attack of the Clones is not enough! I would have also liked a quiet rendition of the Death Star motive, preferably on harp, when the plans were shown in Episode II. And perhaps even a return to the Imperial March ostinato which was so prevalent in Empire, but subsequently evaporated. Hell, maybe a brief rendition of the Luke & Leia theme when the twins are born. People bitched about that idea when I brought it up before (it's supposed to reference their "relationship"... which is flawed thinking if you know what I mean) but I think it's a theme for the fact that they are f*cking brother and sister. So there! A Superman II score by Williams would have been fan-tab in my opinion too. I'd have loved Geonosis action work as well. I've tried to think of how I'd scored it, utilizing the Williams themes of course, and I like to think that my ideas work. Imagine a nice action rendition of Yoda's theme as the gunships come in (different than that heard in "The Duel" of course)... Maybe a brief statement of the blockade runner theme thrown in somewhere, probably when the Jedi collide with the droids, just for the fun of it. Hell, the Force theme wouldn't have been all that inappropriate either. Man, you could go nuts considering just how much music we missed out on! And "The Arena" seemed to be laying such a nice foundation for some great action material. The ironic thing about all this is that I don't even really like the prequels. I would have liked some better thematic usage though.
  19. I still haven't gotten mine yet, though I waited until there were "fewer than 2500 remaining". It could be a while, I think. Hopefully next week.
  20. They never have pre-movie music at any of the cinemas where I am. The one time they did was for the re-release of Star Wars in '97. As I recall, it was only for the first one. They kept playing stuff like "Imperial Attack" and other mood-setting pieces. No real setpieces though.
  21. Despite the fact that it was critically panned, it did a hell of a job at theaters, especially for a continuation of a failed show. There were lots of people who had heard the theme. Roddenberry didn't think, "No one knows this theme because the movie was panned. I'd better use it here!" It was a matter of like vs. dislike. They chose this one over the possible re-use of Courage's theme (discussed in the Goldsmith tribute on disc 2 of the First Contact Collector's Edition) and McCarthy's rather mediocre attempt.
  22. I strongly disagree. They're all Star Trek scores. If that's the only way it can happen, because of rights issues, that's fine. I'm sick of people trying to divide the two generations (no pun intended). What's the point? Though I'd love individual releases.
  23. I don't buy it. You'd have to be a moron not to realize what they were talking about. Spock made sure he accentuated "by the book, Admiral". I'm quite sure Khan would have looked at Mr. Joachim and been like, "They think they can pull the wool over my eyes. Those Denebian slime devils have another thing coming!"
