  1. Unfortunately it smacks of the type of title drummed up during several marketing sessions with executives instead of by a writer.
  2. CDs. I love physical media. If I'm going to buy something I want something to show for it. As other have already pointed out, I then have the ability to rip the CD to my devices.
  3. It's had a bit of a resurgence because of the popularity of that gif.
  4. I recall a friend of mine buying a couple of the Batman Animated Series DVD volumes, but it'll be nice to have the whole thing in one blu ray set. Might actually buy it.
  5. In what way? Furlong is terrible and by far the most annoying aspect of the film. The fact that he was front and center made it worse. No one loves T2 because of his character. He's simply a part of the movie that you overlook to enjoy the rest of it. As far as Newt is concerned, she was young and cute enough, without a ton of dialogue, to be effective for what she represented in the film, which was to give Ripley a mother/daughter dynamic. She's not exactly a major force in terms of screen time. In both of these cases, the first films are superior. While Cameron changed the style, and made good films, he didn't prove anyone wrong any anything.
  6. The Accidental Tourist - John Williams I have to admit that I have never listened to this score all the way through. I had listened to the main theme a time or two over the years, but never dug into it from beginning to end. The main theme is very malleable to fit many moods, and it never grows stale in its many uses throughout, but after hearing the whole thing, it's definitely a score I have to be in a specific state of mind for. Thankfully I seemed to be in the right one.
  7. I actually never watched that bit of the AFI tribute with Abrams in full cry baby mode.
  8. I agree that on the LLL set the insert sounds about as good as it will ever sound, but when the music comes back in from the insert, and it goes back into the original recorded track, it will never quite sound perfect. The strings don't match up in a way where it sounds like the same seamless line of playing from the same orchestra.
  9. Coincidentally, I had the same thought when I was listening to Disc 2 it this morning on my car ride to work. Probably should have lead off the album with the flying theme concert rendition.
  10. The score sound quality is incredible and extremely well balanced and beautiful, which is even more remarkable for a score recorded 35 years go. The new material is fantastic. "Stay With Me" is one of my favorite tracks, with a sweet rendition of the flying theme. The ride music is short but wonderful, despite a noticeable sound quality dip as compared to the rest of the score.
  11. I guess I have to take my top 10 list from last year and whittle it down to 5. No particular order. The Land Before Time Star Trek TWOK Willow Cocoon Legends of the Fall
  12. During summer breaks in middle school I had to endure a few years of suffering General Hospital because of my older sister, who was all about this soap. Stupid, stupid show, and I'll never forgive them for what they did to Dominique. She was too beautiful for this world.
  13. "Yes, Elliot, I understand. You've made great progress today. This is all very positive. I'll see you again next week, just remember, I'll be right here."
  14. Love that new booklet smell! The release sounds marvelous. Truly marvelous.
  15. Now, what about Pears and Oranges?
  16. More Jedi Steps. I truly hope he intended that as a leitmotif, and not just a scene theme.
  17. I don't recall people purporting it to be realistic, exactly, just more down-to-earth than the previous efforts.
  18. No offense to the labels, but it hardly matters as long as MM is involved.
  19. Probably containing no surprises: 1) Independence Day 2) Godzilla 3) Stargate 4) The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader 5) Last of the Dogmen
  20. In no particular order: Batman Edward Scissorhands Sommersby Black Beauty Spider-man 2 With special consideration to The Family Man.
  21. No doubt there are tons of people who will still snatch this up, regardless of its quality. I'm completely indifferent to Horner's score for this movie anyway, especially in the face of the far superior Yared score. Release that instead.
  22. I imagine the only time an OST is preserved on an expanded set is if it's from the LP days, were the program was short enough and in possible need of a cleaning. And in some cases, containing new music or re-recordings. That doesn't really happen much any more, at least as far as I can tell.
  23. Wow, this was a bit surprising to see. RIP.
