My Complete Episode II and III Edits

I'm running everything through a 5.1 mixer. It widens the sound, makes it much more crisp, but can add some hiss becuase it's duplicating sound to an extent. Not really reverb though.

The problem with the ATOC album is there is SOOO much hiss! I can't believe it...

If you'd like a comparison file, let me know.

----------------

LET IT ALSO BE KNOWN!!!::

If anyone messages me for the link to this set before I announce it's done, I'm just gonna stop updating on this site.

I am sooooo tired of the people who DO NOT READ THE THREAD...

They simply see "Edit? PM HIM!"

I've started simply answering messages with

"No." or "Read the thread. No."

So yea... not that the people who message me would SEE this... but I do ask that people stop asking me for the edit... there is no link.

When I announce its done, THEN you can.

---

As for the comparison files, if you'd like to hear one, message me saying "comparison file" otherwise you'll get a "No" reply

Having heard both your previous prequel edits, I think this will be quite good.

Would you be doing the tracked TPM stuff in there (Jedi vs Droid/The Battle of Geonosis)

I have yet to fully decide on that.

I think I may try my hand at it but I'm not sure. I'm mostly focusing on what's important which is the real music.. if I do that stuff, it will probably be last...

I made the tracked music for my AotC Edit. The edits are very jarring, and it was a difficult task to find the percussion for the track transitions.

I may just steal someone elses edit for those... spruce them up abit here and there... but I don't see any point in truly taking my time to make them just right...

I'm gonna focus on the important parts which I am right now.

I've taken the day off because it was a taxing day and I'm still trying not to get sick here... have a surgery coming up and they wont' do it if I'm sick hehe...

Will keep you all updated

You can happily steal my edit ;) It took no more that 20 minutes after finding the right percussion (Some I substituted - like timpani hits were subsituted sometimes by material from TPM Bubble World)

as far as the 5.1 mixer question went, I didn't see it ...sorry heh

I used Vegas movie studio platinum.

It works out really nicely.

I've taken a few days off as well becuase I'm trying to keep from getting sick. I have a surgery coming up and if I'm sick they won't take out my tonsils. But if I dont' get them out, I'll keep getting sick lol...so I'm trying my damndest to sleep and such...

Well, you have the end credits INtro, then you have the Across the Stars, then you have the End Credits ending which is different.

Then you have the film version which has a slightly different intro and I usually like to end the set with an end credits suite... so I thought I'd put the film end credits there...

If you don't like it, it's not that hard to delete it

Anyone Anyone?

I kinda want to put a complete suite of the End Credits as heard on the album but I didn't want to have two end credits... and I do kinda want to show the film version as mentioned above...

I suppose I could move the film up to be track 15, move The Story of Attack of the Clones down... and then add it on as last...

Maybe?

I have to say, this looks pretty amazing - it's expansive, yet not a mess of 8000 20-second cues, even keeping in the tracked music - I look forward to this. ;)

::grumble grumble:: between this and your pm ...

::grumble grumble:: lol

I'm actually waiting right now to upload it.

I just listened to ALL of the set... found that for some odd reason I'd left off the first few seconds of "Across the Stars" ::shrugs::

lol...

Past that I think the set is very listenable.

Once you get over the idea that some of the tracks have sfx, or vocal echo, and really focus on the music... it's fine...

I also managed to make the music much more present... so that the vocal echo and the sfx are more the oddman out... than the norm. THe music becomes the norm, it just happends to have some sfx and vocal echo in it at times.

But as I said, I'm waiting to upload it (can you believe I deleted the email with the new password to the FTP! lol)

So the next post by me should be announcing it's up and you can begin pming me for the link.

No one replied?

I've listened to it GM. Going to give it another listen today before I say much of anything. But, there weren't as many SFX as I thought there were going to be. Good job!

Can't wait to see what you do next.

I've listened to it. I couldn't believe he got the tracked music 100% absolutely correct! There's one tracked piece missing but that's actually irrelevant (about 10 seconds long from "Search for Shmi" but to be honest the track sounds a lot better without the tracked bit in it)

I'd strongly recommend this edit to anyone and everyone who's a fan of Williams. It's the best AotC score I've heard in a long time.

Once again, a brilliant effort, GoodMusician.

I tried my best on the Battle for Geonosis to get everything right. Track the correct material from the correct source (just had to listen enough and know the music enough to recognize where things came from) and then also to correctly alter things...

Many people never pitch shifted certain segments, but you have to to get the flow right...

And yes, seeing as I did it as part of the set, it's a good thing :)

But do NOT be mislead. I did NOT track music into cues that were written for the film... like Secret Landing on Geonosis had the ending of the track brought in about the middle, but I did NOT do tracks like that. I only did sourced cues when that was the "cue" and there is no official... like "Tatooine Resolution," or the Battle for Geonosis ones...

No tracked music or looped segments within released cues from Episode II were done as that's simply not what this set was for.

Like I made "Tatooine Resolution" becuase it was all tracked music and no one knows what went there... but In the music for the dark side taking root or "Tusken Camp" as Yoda speaks to Mace... that music is looped twice in the film... but Ididn't do that in my edit.

However, cues that I was unsure of... or couldn't adequately create the endings to, might have the tracked music as heard in the film.

The Council Confers for instance... no one is exactly sure what was suppose to go there and what was tracked from other sources such as The Jedi Archives or even Emergency Powers... but it's hard to say... and if I removed a segment, the audio echo would be strange as you'd hear one thing, and then mid sentence someone else... so I left the entire rip in that case.

In the case of the ending to "The Army for the Republic," which then transitions into the lake retreat and "Glass Sculptures - Forbidden Kiss," I believe these two cues are meant to be one, but because of the amount of editing done to adequate bring in that trakced music for the finale of "The Army of the Republic," I couldn't bring in the beginning fanfare for "Glass Sculptures," so I simply let Army of the Republic end with its tracked music...and Glass Sculptures start with the correct music.

::grumble grumble:: lol

Not to dig up old wounds, but I just wanted to toss my two cents into the ring with regard to lots of tiny tracks versus long epic tracks.

My CDs get ripped to MP3, then never touched again. My 3-disc stereo on my dresser usually scratches my CDs, I'm too cheap to buy a new one, and listening to CDs on a computer is redundant once I've made the MP3.

Since I'm also to cheap to buy an iPod/Zune/Nomad/MP3-ready-cell-phone, I burn my music to an MP3 CD for either Winamp listening, or my four year old AIWA MP3-CD/FM/AM player in the car with a cassette adapter. Winamp is really good at blending track transitions, so it could be one 80-minute track, or a bunch of tiny ones. But that MP3 CD player leaves about a split-second gap between tracks. 8000 20-second tracks with such a gap between every track gets painful to listen to. Shorter tracks means you can't play them on random without breaking musical ideas; I don't listen to soundtracks on random anyways, but still. To each their own.

Examples of this are on the 4-disc Return of the King, with "Dwimorberg: The Haunted Mountain" and "Master Meriadoc, Swordthain" being one coherent musical statement, unnaturally separated into two separate tracks for length; ditto for "Allegiance to Denethor" and "The Sacrifice of Faramir." When I stop being lazy, I'll rerip each pair of tracks to be one track. The same thing is for such lengthy sequences as the water battle from Ben-Hur, where I opted for a 9 minute super-track instead of a bunch of little ones, just so my MP3 player wouldn't bug me.

I'm a hypocrite, though, when it comes to The Wizard of Oz...for some reason, I prefer to keep the whole Munchkinland sequence separated, so each song is its own track, instead of one supertrack. Dunno.

I digress. You did a marvelous job with this set, as with the other two prequel flicks, and look forward to listening to it sin interruptum.

Ok...so I goofed... I knew that "The Droids Confer" was a tracked cue... but I simply COULD NOT find it...

and I just did... kick me...hit me...whatever lol...

I'm going to upload the single track in a bit to replace the one that is in the edit.

I've also decided under the suggestion of others to post the discs broken up by 100 mb for easier downloads. Incase you have had problems as well...

cute... say what you will, but I did my best to replicate what was done.

Then you must be admitting that you find some merit in this music. That's something I can't understand. The editing is an insult to Williams, and certainly a contributing factor to his disinterest in Revenge of the Sith. It's something that should never be heard.

I'm not going to get into some argument with you in my thread.

I'm simply saying that I included the score as complete as I could. The tracked battle music, seeing as Williams didn't write ANYTHING for those scenes, I included upon the request of those out there. I had not intended to, but I realized it would have made the set significantly shorter, no one had adequately replicated what was heard in the film, and it does improve the overall narrative to include it.

If you want to speak further on the issue, go ahead and pm me....

heh... the internet is real picky like that.

Out of curiosity, when are you putting Episode III back up? I had to get rid due to limited Hard Drive space (and it was the one I told you about so it's likely out of date anyway)

The way It works is the site claims no offiliation to it. Anything given out cannot be done so publically like putting a link in a thread.

But legally speaking, as long as you have the album and the DVD, this could fall under making a copy for yourself... and as no money is exchanging hands... yes...

Well, really. You're distributing files that contain music from a CD album, a DVD, numerous games, and more. There may be "gray area" in the case of the game music (though I suspect not), but any distribution of music from or edited from the CD is clearly illegal.
