pi 0
Any Mozart, no duds.I find the Shostakovitch Piano Concert 2 Mvt 2 ( yes quite amazing piece) to be a commentary on the Grieg Concerto (amazing also) 2nd movement which really super reminds me of the Beethoven 5 second movement. Delorean90 42
Off the top of my head:"Moonlight Serenade" by Glenn Miller"O Holy Night"A lot of Young Sherlock Holmes, including "The Riddle Solved/End Credits""Aniron" from FOTR"Caras Galadhon" from FOTR"The Breaking of the Fellowship" from FOTR"Marion's Theme" from Raiders of the Lost Ark (probably any statement of it, particularly the mini-concert-suite in the End Credits)"Selina Transforms Pt. 2" from Batman ReturnsThere's a bunch more that I'll probably list when I'm thinking straight and I'm not sleepy. gkgyver 1,645
Speaking of most beautiful music, can someone recommend a few romantic, really heartwrenching pieces of music? Not just film music, but classical pieces as well. You know, something for being madly in love. And if possible, avoid the John Williams repertoire. It would be much appreciated! You know, something for being madly in love. And if possible, avoid the John Williams repertoire. It would be much appreciated! You probably know about all of these. Here's all the non-Williams love themes I can think of (in no order):1. Love Theme from POTC: At World's End (best heard in One Day and Drink Up Me Hearties)2. The Kiss (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)3. Scene d'amour (Vertigo)4. Ilia's Theme (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)5. Evenstar (LOTR: TT) I'm sure you already know about this one 6. Ice Dance (Edward Scissorhands)
gkgyver 1,645
Oh yes, Ice Dance is absolutely staggering. But these pieces aren't quite what I mean, they're too ... familiar. I was thinking of really tragic and moving pieces. Ice Dance is close. My Own True Love would be one, or Breakfast At Tiffany's, or Nino Rota's Romeo and Juliet. The Kiss and Hans Zimmer's melodramatic dirge aren't even in the same category I was thinking in. I was thinking of self-containes pieces.

JCM 1
"Adagio" for Strings - Samuel Barber. I don't know how anyone can't sit outside on a quiet day or night, listen to that, and NOT be effected somehow. It's just beautiful.I also am a big fan of Vaughan Williams' Symphony No. 1 - " A Sea Symphony". Especially the beginning of the fourth movement. There are so many others, but those two were ones I became very familiar with in college....Adagio because Sam Barber was born and raised a few blocks from my school of music, and Vaughan Williams because we performed it.Great music.
