Bilbo 3,709
Maybe in the 90s. Hard (and inauthentic to be fair) to try and keep that image going when you’re a multi-millionaire in your 50s. I always play up the “holiness” or “royalty” thing myself though.

Disco Stu 15,495
It's close to but not quite the trademark Purdie Shuffle, but my personal favorite Steely Dan song with a classic Purdie performance is "Sign in Stranger."
Marian Schedenig 8,207
It's been more than two years since the last Ben Folds album, so I'm just rediscovering his last one. Really nice unusual arrangements for a pop album. Disco Stu

Steely Dan is one of those things, like Joni Mitchell and Michael Jackson, where the music and lyrics create such a powerful confluence, both pushing the other to greater heights than either element by its lonesome. By far their most popular song is "Alright" (5.5 million Youtube views to 800k or so for "Pumping") They're one of the best, most fun British rock bands of the late-90s/early-00s and I love all of their albums! Jay 37,372
Sweet thanks; Just clicked play on the Alright video and I recognize it - probably heard it on Lucy/Lithium over the years. Definitely never would have guessed it was the same band as Pumping In Your Stereo. That one I saw the video on MTV one day, back in the day, and figured it was some new band's debut single. Never knew they had already been around a while. Guess they never caught on in New England cause I've never heard them on FM radio

It's different! You need to be able to listen without constantly comparing, because Plant very much is able to explore his interest in American/British folk and "world music" influences to his heart's content. He's able to just make music without even caring about if people think it's as good as Zeppelin. I think it's great. Personally I think everyone should start with the 2002 album Dreamland. It's my personal favorite. Try this one if you're interested
SteveMc 2,674
Celebrating the birthday of underrated bassist, guitarist, singer and songwriter Michael Steele today. Many career highlights, from The Runaways to The Bangles and beyond. (Maybe we need a Michael Steele thread ). A lot of character on the bass for this song, from power pop outfit Elton Duck: Singing lead on a solid cover: Very moody number that Steele wrote, sang, and, evidently, played guitar on: Steele’s masterpiece: Poetically interesting song she wrote… stay tuned for her Bowie impression: Harmonic tour de force from The Bangles on this song:
