Yea Newbury Comics is a great store! Which one do you go to, the one on Newbury St?

If you ever get a chance, check out the one in Walpole. Its super huge, easily twice as big as any other Newbury Comics I had ever seen.

I am anxiously awaiting their next BOGO sale as well. This time I'll go first thing in the morning instead of after work; I feel like a lot of the good stuff was picked over by the time I got there.

I have no desire to watch SPR over and over, and I worry for those who do.

I'm far more inclined to worry about people who watch mindless junk like Twilight over and over. SPR is a gorgeous film to watch from a cinematic standpoint, if a little trite towards the end. I think it has repeat-viewing value. Still, your worry is touching and I appreciate your concern for my well-being :D

I would only worry about you if you're watching the really cool death scenes over and over, frankly I never got that feel about you, among the JW crowd you're sadly level headed.

I really need to work on that. :)

I can understand the desire for a Blu Ray of Always so long as it gets a careful remastering beforehand. It's hardly the 'Berg's finest film, but it deserves better than the grainy look of the DVD available currently. I was quite shocked when I saw it (even though I'd only paid five bucks from a Wal*Mart bin!)

I went to the one in Salem, NH. I figured I would save on the tax. Ya the morning seems like the time to go. I got there at about 8 at night and there was some slim pickings.

Yea I remember reading a while ago that a single-disc movie-only release was coming in April, and a deluxe special edition in November. Wouldn't surprise me if the November release contains the longer cut coming to theaters this summer as well

When a studio announces a double disc version will be released seven months after a single disc version, it's an open invitation for people to either ignore the first release or find a creative alternate way to watch the movie anyways until then.

Netflix and Redbox are just as good (and legal) methods of watching the movie until November than any nefarious methods than one might use. If you know you want the deluxe edition, there's no point in buying it in April.

the deluxe edition might not be in November, it might be in 2011.

the blu ray is advertised as two discs which means that the film is split.

Well, according to the artwork its a Blu/DVD combo, so that probably explains the two discs. In this day and age, there is no reason to split the movie (especially since longer movies like Watchmen haven't).

Yeah I saw that. I may get it, Hastings is preordering it for 15 bucks at the store.

There's no reason why longer films should be split across two discs. The Blu Rays Ultimate editions of the Harry Potter films have both the extended AND theatrical versions of the films on the same disc. That's about 5 hours worth, all in excellent quality. When the extended LOTR films come out I really hope there's no more awkward disc-changing halfway through.

I've been waiting for that too. They recently dropped back down to $31.99 on amazon, but I want much lower. Probably will be a sale around when HP7.1 is arriving in theaters

I got the Wizard of Oz Emerald version for 15 bucks today at my wholesale club along with Body of Lies.

Lucky bastard! Around these parts, Blu-ray is still being treated as something very exclusive and so the Wizard Of Oz is expensive as emerald.

Picked up last night:

National Treasure 2

Ew.

oh please you bought Sherlock Holmes...

And as far as Sherlock Holmes movies go, strictly against other sherlock holmes movies it sucks even more.

Sadly, modern American audiences don't want to see a three hour thinking man's epic on par with the classic Sherlock Holmes adventures they show on PBS.

Or at least, that's what the studios think they want.

At any rate, that's what was made. And judging by the reviews and BO returns, they studios gave the public what they wanted.

And the cycle continues.

For those who want the "classic" Sherlock Holmes adventures, I believe Walmart is carrying the Basil Rathbone two-pack DVDs as a way to cash in on the Holmes craze. I'd rather read through all the stories than watch Downey Jr's movie again, since I only read The Hound, but that was 14 years ago.
