What kind of TV do you own?

Better Call Saul on blu-ray upscales beautifully! What a miracle compared to the upscaling tech I saw on first generation 4K TVs back in 2014. I remember seeing the Ghostbusters blu-ray playing on a Sony 4K tele back then and the upscaling looked like a load of swirling pixel noise. And without HDR, it still looks amazing, who needs it??

How is this TV supposed to output Dolby Atmos as streamed from Netflix? All it has is a digital optical output, and I'm sure that doesn't support Atmos.

Optical audio is archaic. Use HDMI.

You need a receiver with an HDMI input

Haha I had that remote 5-10 years ago.  Now I do everything from the remote that came with my TV

I'm not sure if I understand, the remote from my TV can only control my TV. And I really hate that remote because of the click clack sounds it makes. With the Logitech I can control my TV, my Pioneer amp, my CD player, my Blu-ray player, my Denon amp in another room (which had no remote), my DAC (only has an optional remote which I don't have), etc.

My TV is connected to my receiver through HDMI, and they talk to each other so when I hit the power button on my remote, it turns on both the TV and the receiver, and the volume buttons on the remote change the volume of the receiver, not the TV (I don't use the TV's built in speakers).

You're right, I have to bust out a separate remote if we watch a disc, but we rarely do that these days

I fancied rewatching the magnificent appendices from the LotR EEs, it's been years. Trouble is I threw out the DVDs during my last move. But I found a torrent which packaged the whole lot together really neatly - minus the films. Downloaded 'em last night, easy peasy, still seeded to this day. You don't even need physical media for DVD extras these days!

Incidentally, had I purchased the digital versions of the EEs, I'd have been thoroughly pissed off to discover later that they don't even come with the full appendices.

OLED is the better technology. Interesting that the 8K resolution wasn't all that obvious. Also, you could easily see that the second TV was the OLED due to the perfect viewing angle, which is still the Achilles' heel of LED TVs.

Your bedroom is for sleeping and sex, not TV-watching.

I like to cast my porn to my telly.

Then what the hell? Mine has four HDMI ports and none of them say "HDMI out".

Look for the HDMI port that has ARC (audio return channel). TVs usually have one of them. This is the one you connect to your receiver.

I specifically do not want a wall mount I want a nice cabinet, in a teal that sits up off the floor.
