Damien F 1,742
One of the reasons I'd love an expanded release of Prisoner of Azkaban is for the cues that feature Peter Pettigrew's theme that never made it onto the OST.It made me wonder if there are any other JW themes and motifs that were omitted from the original soundtracks?Mola Ram's theme came very close. In what track in the OST of the Patriot can I hear Tavington's motif?Yeah the first one is really a baffling case as the piano theme is as you say sublime.Tavington's Trap 0:32 onwards in the rhythmic strings. Williams reprises it a couple of times on woodwinds in the film. He uses it as a base for the Martin VS Tavington though but it is more in the use of the rhythmic strings than actually fully reprising the idea. Apart from the near subliminal hint in Hammond's Plan. That's right, I'm not talking about the Island Motif. They're both four notes so it can get confusing describing them. The Carnivore motif is the one that goes up a minor second, down a major third, then down an augmented fourth--often played on shakuhatchi. Incanus 5,716
I wonder what that lovely melody from the Talk of Podracing is meant to represent thematically as it is reprised in the finale of the film? It's the A Jedi In The Making motif! In Talk Of Podracing, it plays when Qui-Gon is saying how badass Ani is for being able to drive a podracer and he must have Jedi reflexes, and in The High Council Meeting, it plays when Palpy says "We shall watch your career with great interest..."Not sure about the second one, though. I may be remembering incorrectly. Same for the first one, actually...Doug Adams should be wary. You might steal his film music analysist par excellence post soon. mstrox 6,651
The track "Han Solo and the Princess" includes both the new theme (Han Solo), and Princess Leia's theme from Star Wars. The track title just got stuck to the theme. Also correlates with Williams' statements that he did not write a Star Wars love theme until AOTC (This is not my theory, BTW, it's Doug Adams' - but it made the Star Wars scores/themes click a little better for me)

Qui-Gon's theme is the big, sweeping theme that plays when Qui-Gon and Darth Maul fight in the desert. It's introduced a little before that scene - it opens Disc 2 of the UE set, and it also plays at the end of the movie when he dies in Obi-Wan's arms. Awesome theme.
