TSMefford 1,509 Posted November 26, 2022 Share Posted November 26, 2022 I'm enjoying the show well-enough. Yeah it's predictable at times and it's not the best thing ever, but it's fun. The whole thing is really built around Jenna Ortega and it's really tough for the rest to compare, but I think they shine enough as the show goes on. Definitely gets stronger as it goes I think. I'm starting Episode 7 shortly. I will say - I really wish there was more of the rest of the family. I know it's Wednesday's show and the premise doesn't lend itself to it a whole lot, but I perk up a little bit more when Gomez and Morticia are on screen. Netflix tends to divide these sort of things up. For example: Kris Bowers' score for Bridgerton has it's own album, and the covers have their own EP release "Bridgerton (Covers from the Netflix Original Series)" Probably also why the Rob Simonsen "covers" / arrangements of Stranger Things cues were also not included on the soundtrack release. I asked one of the arrangers, Esin Aydingoz, if there was a chance for release. Her response: She also has posted about the project, mentioning Collaborator Alana D and Chris Bacon adding orchestra to one of their arrangements: Quote esinaydingoz 3 more days 👀 @wednesdaynetflix . The theme, after two hours gets to you and there are some very brilliantly Elfman type pieces all the way. I will never agree with Thor but maybe a nice 50 minute album here would do the trick - there is just too much content to handle and I don't have time to edit! The opening titles are the usual synth farty post-Jablonski stuff but the rest of the score is beautifully traditionally Elfmanesque - too busy, always melodic, a bit annoying, but invariably beautiful. I’d never have predicted it but Wednesday is Tim Burton’s big comeback in the business. His first unqualified HIT since Alice in Wonderland 12 years ago after a string of films that were either failures or did just mediocre business. Definitely the best thing Burton has done in a while. Enjoyed Elfman’s theme. No other cues really stood out though. Anyone have a 30-40 minute playlist with the highlights? While it was great to see Zeta Jones as Morticia and Guzman as Gomez (and Pugsly was good too!), the story they wrote for them to have here was so boring and unrelated to the main story!
