  1. The Farewell theme has such an emotional, poignant but somewhat light finality to it, that I didn't hear in SW before. Battle of the Heroes does have a finality but it's dark and heavy and preoccupied with being an epic battle cue - and RotJ mostly skips it except for maybe the new Victory Celebration which doesn't do it that well, even if I like it more than many here.
  2. Approaching the Throne's probably my favourite track so far. That new theme, the MotR rendition, the choir, everything! If I wanted to send a great but not really spoilery track to a friend, which would you guys recommend? Falcon Flight?
  3. On Body and Soul (2017) Boy and girl meet at work, they're awkward but connect over a weird thing, relationship foms. OK, there's more to it. "meets" happens at the abatoire where they work, "boy" is the aging fiscal manager with a lame arm who's been hurt before and by now is afraid to act on attractions, "girl" is the new quality inspector who seems detached and cold and has problems with emotions, connection, even physical touch. (Later the signs start adding up and pointing to her being on the autism spectrum but it's never explicitly addressed.) Both vegetate in their miserable but safe shells until a kinda meh B plot reveals "weird thing" - they share a dream at night of being a male and female deer by a pool in a snowy winter forest. That starts their connection and things proceed. The actors do a great job (the leads especially, the male one is not even an actor by profession and this is his first and last foray into the field), cinematography and editing are great, the presentation is mostly very matter-of-fact, interactions are awkward in a way that was more relatable than overly cutesy to me. No big sweeping sentimentality, maybe the most classic Hollywoodsy love story moment was the meet-cute: him looking out the office window during a meeting and seeing her standing apart from other people, wind blowing her hair and skirt. And the final "twist" beat, but only in plain script form - it wasn't presented as that big of a deal, you just know and feel it is. Favourite part was Also had a good couple of unexpected laughs! And usually from honest and genuine sources, not "look how stupid she made herself look, how embarassing" or forced one liners or something. I couldn't point out exactly why - but I completely adored this film and got heavily invested. I am || <= this close to watching it again tonight just to catch everything with knowing the full picture this time - I already skipped a little into it and noticed shots like the one below that I missed early on. Also, fuck you, publishers for not bringing out a bluray at home. Son of Saul had like 5 editions, I have a deluxe digipak one with a limited numbered 35mm frame, booklet, extras on both bluray and DVD - I guess this one was only nominated for an Oscar and got as far as the 5-long shortlist and only won a Golden Bear, it only deserves a probably shittily downconverted barebones DVD, right?
  4. Sorry for the necro but just thought about doing a thread like this. Quint Meets His End has to be up there, but most of Arrival in New York is what sparked my idea!
  5. Chapter 2: Jawas Attack, The Egg, Celebration; Chapter 5: Speederbikes, Night Riders. It's an offkilter rythm.
  6. 2 listens today. This is damn good stuff! First, probably inaccurate and overly sensationalised impression: it's A.I.'s edgy but likeable brother.
  7. Yeah Discord's down or something.
  8. I listened to HA 3 times this week and lamented that the Holiday Flight motif only appears for short bursts, there's no one longer comprehensive presentation - now I got that with We Overslept Again/Holiday Flight, holy shit! Loooooooove Arrival in New York! Concierge - that is precisely how you score your Tim Curry. Well done. Distant Goodnights - Just from the film I never thought Christmas Star was quite up to the level of the new carols of the first one - but it may be growing on me. Duncan's Toy Store - I can just feel my smile involuntarily growing wider and wider. To the Plaza, Presto - Hell Yeah! Fighting the Troll! Hot Pursuit - Hell Yeah! Circus Train! Haunted Brownstone's pretty cool. Christmas at Carnegie Hall - Hell Yeah! Preparing the Trap - FUCK YEAH That timpani BAUWMMMMMM in Another Christmas, Running Through Town... yes, this is a cartoon score now. The final "siege" in the original is a bunch of stingers spotted impeccably around the action and sound effects, building up to be bigger and bigger. I'm not feeling Luring the Thieves and Kevin's Booby Traps as much at all. Some trimming may be in order. Into the Park manages to recover thankfully. We Wish You a Merry Christmas / Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas: go to hell, Johnny, with your supposedly happy choir pieces starting with a jumpscare opening and sung in a hair-raising way! The music box and piano pieces are nice, even after we got so very spoilt with those full orchestral source snippets for the first one. My Christmas Tree gives me much more... South Park's A Woodland Critter Christmas vibes. Holiday Flight (alternate)... ... ... WHAT ... ... ...
  9. Well, I got to it. I'll be removing these from the opening for my phone playlist for sure. The originals have the genuine, pleasing kids' choir, these have... deep adult voices going over the top with that operatic vibrato way that always makes me want to leave the 200m circle around the audio source from which it's emanating. But the main title's damn good! Brought my hopes back up for the rest.
  10. Another alright episode - I guess Tatooine and all the quick references were always inevitable.
  11. Today's OST is alright. Jawa Theme returns! I love Warm or Cold, Bright Eyes (is that the Baby Yoda theme Ludwig mentioned in that interview we haven't heard before?) and Speederbikes. The Hangar is pretty cool. Farewell is great, very nice touches. Yes, I did get up at 6 just to listen to it as soon as it appeared on Spotify.
  12. Yeah it's another example of JW taking a well-constructed structure and order with one thing building on another, and completely shitting on it by staggering it with unrelated material and everything.
  13. That's certainly a thing. Now imagine for example Dumbledore, where the actor died and got recast, his whole image was revamped, but still dubbed by the same actor in the same way!
  14. From the prequels I really mostly would want TPM only, so a box would be suboptimal. Gimme TRoS.
  15. It's just Pedro and the puppet Baby Yoda that have appeared in every ep so far, right?
  16. I never heard any of it outside of a youtube video of the Inferno main titles. My jaw dropped at the first note of that sample.
