From the interview on the main page:

I just completed the work on the film Lincoln, which is being directed by Steven Spielberg, and Daniel Day-Lewis portrays Lincoln in the film. The script is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book, Team of Rivals, and the screenplay is written by Tony Kushner. It will be opening at the end of this year. Steven Spielberg and I will be doing another film shortly.

What could the new film be? Maybe the Moses biopic, seeing as Robopocalypse has been pushed back to 2014?

Recently Purchased CDs:
1. Nightwatch/Killer By Night - Johnny Williams and Quincy Jones 2. Diamond Head/Gone with the Wave - Johnny Williams/Lalo Schifrin 3. Mass - Leonard Bernstein 4. Bernstein with the New York Philharmonic - Leonard Bernstein

Or Empire of the Sun II - a J.G. Ballard biopic, of course starring Ch. Bale.

It will clearly be Robopocalypse. I think shooting will start at the end of the year or early next year, considering Steven Spielberg said in an interview something about camera tests in September. The effect work will take a year at least and nobody says that they can't be finished with the film well before the release date.

I expect the JW score to be recorded probably in spring 2013 or a bit later if the shooting starts in 2013.

Only the grim reaper can stop JW

I'm not worried that he will retire, he seems unable to stop composing music

That said Robocopalypse sounds like it could be really cool. I'm glad it;s not another historical drama, biography or a comedy of some sort

as if thousands of voices shouted out in joy, and were never silenced.

Among all the things I have done in my short and pitiful life, becoming an inside joke on JWFAN is the one I'm the least proud of.

John Williams sucks, he doesn't write with a quill pen, there is no emotion in pencil music ! Purcell is the man !

My big wish for JW and Spielberg would be that they somehow manage to do Interstellar and/or the Moses(Biopick). They would present the best opportunities for another masterpiece score.

Nevertheless i am absolutely looking forward to Robopocalypse. The deciding factor will be the apporach they take.

Will the scoring be darker and a bit more restrained like in the style of Minority Report or rather epic like a Starwars prequel score. Another question mark is if they decide to have themes for every story section (which would be better) or approach it in a rather monothematic way.
Williams always does great source music. He has many electronic/futuristic opportunities for that here too.

I have a strong hunch Williams will stay away from the things he calls "post modern sound sources" if he is going to have any futuristic material to score.

Ars superior est vita hominum.

"We pop out and come into the world and music is there. We didn't invent it - it's all organised in the atmosphere by divinity or whatever. It's a miracle." - John Williams-

I think music is a stream of some kind. It could be blood. It could be water. It could be ether. Whatever it is it seems to be a living, organic force that’s in motion, that serves humanity and is part of humanity and part of what describes us as humans. We sing, play, dance, all the things that we do. And there is a vibrant and great literature we have been given. ... As musicians, we join the stream. We swim in the stream with all the other millions of music makers. It’s a life force, a strong one, surrounding us and we are part of it. -John Williams-

Then his son will compose those like in AI or even another composer like Haslinger in Minority Report with the "Ad Mall" and "Cyber Parlour".

Even though Haslinger is Austrian like me i cannot say something nice about him and i regret calling him a composer. He certainly doesn't earn the term composer ;). I got a headache from his noise during the "Three Musketeers", a film i regret having seen in cinema. Wasted money, wasted time and insulted ears...

Paul Haslinger did those source cues in Minority Report? Interesting...

I like his score for Shoot 'Em Up.

Schindler's Lust, perhaps? He had quite a colourful life even after the events portrayed in the 1993 film.

Karol
From a storytelling point of view, from a directing point of view, there is one thing I associate with what he does, which is calm. There is such an inherent calm and inherent trust of the one powerful image, that he makes me embarrassed with my own work, in terms of how many different shots, how many different sound effects, how many different things we’ll throw at an audience to make an impression. But with Kubrick, there is such a great trust of the one correct image to calmly explain something to audience. There can be some slowness to the editing. There’s nothing frenetic about it. It’s very simple. There’s a trust in simple storytelling and simple image making that actually takes massive confidence to try and emulate. - Christopher Nolan

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: a remake.

If you put John Williams in a dryer, you get Jerry Goldsmith! You get the downside version!
