indy4 159 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 From the interview on the main page: I just completed the work on the film Lincoln, which is being directed by Steven Spielberg, and Daniel Day-Lewis portrays Lincoln in the film. The script is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book, Team of Rivals, and the screenplay is written by Tony Kushner. It will be opening at the end of this year. Steven Spielberg and I will be doing another film shortly. What could the new film be? Maybe the Moses biopic, seeing as Robopocalypse has been pushed back to 2014?
Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I hope it's a sequel to The Terminal.
Neimoidian 14 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Or Empire of the Sun II - a J.G. Ballard biopic, of course starring Ch. Bale.
MrJosh 1,005 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 What I really want : Hook II: Smee's Revenge. ShowUStheHOOK 1
SF1_freeze 136 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 It will clearly be Robopocalypse. I think shooting will start at the end of the year or early next year, considering Steven Spielberg said in an interview something about camera tests in September. The effect work will take a year at least and nobody says that they can't be finished with the film well before the release date.I expect the JW score to be recorded probably in spring 2013 or a bit later if the shooting starts in 2013.
MrJosh 1,005 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I'm happy he isn't retiring after Lincoln.
Kendal_Ozzel 36 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Yeah, gotta be Robopocalypse. Glad to hear JW's already planning on it.
King Mark 3,834 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Only the grim reaper can stop JWI'm not worried that he will retire, he seems unable to stop composing musicThat said Robocopalypse sounds like it could be really cool. I'm glad it;s not another historical drama, biography or a comedy of some sort
Marian Schedenig 10,165 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 John Williams: "Steven Spielberg and I will be doing another film shortly."And there was much rejoicing.
Little Ghost 7,876 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 as if thousands of voices shouted out in joy, and were never silenced. MrJosh 1

SF1_freeze 136 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 My big wish for JW and Spielberg would be that they somehow manage to do Interstellar and/or the Moses(Biopick). They would present the best opportunities for another masterpiece score.Nevertheless i am absolutely looking forward to Robopocalypse. The deciding factor will be the apporach they take. Will the scoring be darker and a bit more restrained like in the style of Minority Report or rather epic like a Starwars prequel score. Another question mark is if they decide to have themes for every story section (which would be better) or approach it in a rather monothematic way.Williams always does great source music. He has many electronic/futuristic opportunities for that here too.

SF1_freeze 136 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Then his son will compose those like in AI or even another composer like Haslinger in Minority Report with the "Ad Mall" and "Cyber Parlour".
Incanus 5,858 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Then his son will compose those like in AI or even another composer like Haslinger in Minority Report with the "Ad Mall" and "Cyber Parlour".Most likely.
SF1_freeze 136 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Even though Haslinger is Austrian like me i cannot say something nice about him and i regret calling him a composer. He certainly doesn't earn the term composer . I got a headache from his noise during the "Three Musketeers", a film i regret having seen in cinema. Wasted money, wasted time and insulted ears...
Koray Savas 2,256 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Paul Haslinger did those source cues in Minority Report? Interesting...I like his score for Shoot 'Em Up.
crocodile 9,211 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Schindler's Lust, perhaps? He had quite a colourful life even after the events portrayed in the 1993 film.Karol
BloodBoal 7,544 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Lincopocalypse would be far more interesting.
chuck 155 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: a remake.
Jilal 628 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Robopocalypse (God, what an awful name) is sheduled for a July 2013 release.
indy4 159 Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 It's definately Robopocalypse (God, what an awful name), since that's sheduled for a July 2013 release date.It was pushed back to 2014 (I think in April?)

Luke Skywalker 2,204 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 it would be a shock if it was revealed so.

Uni 307 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Wow. I'm surprised you of all people hadn't heard yet.Now that Abrams has moved on to Star Wars, Spielberg is set to produce and direct a new Star Trek/Avengers crossover (to be released in late 2014).- Uni
Maurizio 5,893 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 So what film was JW talking about here? hmmm.I guess he was probably referring to Robopocalypse, which was originally set to beging shooting in late '12.
Jay 42,490 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 It had already been pushed back to 2014 by then, though.
Marian Schedenig 10,165 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 He might just have been speaking from experience. You could argue that, on average, they have always been doing another film "shortly" for the past 40 years. Joni Wiljami 1
