Norway has a bunch of these too, and I believe there are several articles around translating the Norwegian titles back into English. Like JAWS is "Haisommer", which translates as "Shark Summer". It's funny.

I only have one -- the Michael Tilson Thomas/San Francisco Symphony recording, but that is fine. The sound is a little "distant", but the performance is top notch. You also get "Persephone" and "The Fire Bird" on the same disc.

Much better. Lurie's isn't too bad, but can't compare. Also, I'm kinda boycotting Lurie these days, due to issues that are forbidden to talk about here.

Very glad to hear that it's been made available again, for those who didn't get it the first time around (or the second or third). As I said earlier in the thread, I was 99% certain that this would pop up again, and I'm still confident it will be available in the foreseeable future, perhaps with some intervals. Kudos to those who managed to sell it on the secondary market for hundreds of dollars in the interim, but that's not my thing, despite poverty. My copy is not for sale, and never will be.

I agree, THE VILLAGE outshines STEPMOM as far as autumnal scores go, but only by a tiny margin.

Can't remember. I have a vague VHS memory, but nothing to draw an evaluation from.

Not insensitive at all, but I'm not quite sure how to answer it.

Do you mean, how do I watch them? Well, in this case I'd just be enjoying the surround version as opposed to the stereo mix, provided they've invented better hearing aids by that time since my right eardrum had to go and become all funny and healing is not something it wants to.

Or do you mean, why would I want to watch them with someone? Maybe to ask their opinion on what they see or the occasional description of what they see. Or because I'm guessing it would be more exciting for them to watch instead of just listen.

    Does that answer your question?

Because they're rather obsessive about such things. Physical format, deluxe packaging etc.

I need to get the Vienna and Berlin Blu-rays first, before I attempt getting this.

FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC is horror, as are some of the other titles on your list, but yes, I agree, very nice score that has very little horror about it. Sounds like a drama score.

    Just a "heads up", y'all.
Next Saturday at 4pm BST, there will be an interview with Eliot Goldenthal, on BBC Radio 3's programme THE SOUND OF CINEMA.

I'm not an expert on sound engineers' particular sounds and quirks, so wouldn't immediately be able to separate between a Shawn Murphy and Dennis Sands and Dan Wallin. I know that many others do. That being said, Wallin has been one of those names I've seen on soundtrack releases for what feels like forever. Certainly a legend in the field, and 97 is incredibly good innings! RIP.

Was never able to get into the soundtrack, but thanks for the reminder. Might give it another go.
