Looked to to me like it the eagle was screeching to tell them to stop chanting his name then buggered off when they didn't listen. Silly humans.

Really loved when Sauron took the form of Annatar. Can't think what it reminded me of though

I apologise, sir. I find it hard to detect the intended tone of some posts, especially if they are a joke coming out of the blue where only "serious" posts were made prior. I guess I should have known that you weren't being especially serious when you began your post with:

Jesus tapdancing Christ. Are we really complaining about which version of the prologue starts the set?
We're doomed as a species, aren't we?

I can't get enough of this release. There's so much to digest and such a definitive presentation. Hook has jumped right to near the top of my all time favourite Williams scores.

I listened to the full score again after a few months and the music is just too good. There isn’t a single dull or uninteresting moment, and the way he weaves the themes together so seamlessly makes it feel like you’re listening to a concert work rather than something written to picture. This may be Williams’ most complex score, and definitely remains one of my favourites.

Alan reacted to crocodile in Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965) - 2023 Deluxe Edition remixed and remastered by Mike Matessino
I like winter when it snows (at least for some time). But there's no snow to speak of these days and it's dark and damp.

I actually just managed to give this a listen. It has been a busy couple of months and this kind of set takes some commitment. Plus, I wanted to watch the film first (which was quite charming actually). I also read the very extensive and detailed liner notes, which cover just about everything you might want to know about the adaptation, filming and scoring process. It's very exhaustive. And the set design is just gorgeous. The presentation itself is absolutely exquisite as well, both in terms of presentation and sound. It is also cool you can create an almost exclusively instrumental version of the score if you wish to do so. It's the kind of fuzzy and warm experience that feels like a warm blanket in those miserable winter months.

Alan got a reaction from dyemery in Joe Kraemer: “I haven’t scored a single mainstream Hollywood movie since ‘Rogue Nation’”
So I'm guessing from all of this that the ex-friend is Christopher McQuarrie, the deal he was swindled out of was Mission Impossible: Fallout and the Zimling is Lorne Balfe.
Sad to hear a talented composer talk about the state of the industry in these terms. He, and everyone working in the industry, deserves better.

Alan got a reaction from ThePenitentMan1 in Why does the "Re-Use" fee excuse for not releasing expanded scores only apply to Williams ?
This 2005 100% reuse fee really seems like an exercise in cutting ones nose off to spite their face, or shooting yourself in the foot. If no-one can afford or is willing to pay an orchestra 100% of their original fee for re-use of the music, then no-one benefits. Not the players, the composer, studio and certainly not the fans. It's a broken system.

Alan got a reaction from crumbs in Anyone here succumbed to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray?
I've got a bad feeling about this...
Just watching some of the newly updated master of Aliens on Apple TV. Terrible. Everything is now unnaturally smooth while also being uncannily sharp. Basically, it looks like AI images. Cameron is using Park Road Post for these remasters, Peter Jackson's post facility that created the ghoulish looking "Get Back" series. It's a shame if The Abyss ends up looking similar given that there isn't an existing Blu-ray to fall back on but I'll definitely be sticking with my existing disc for Aliens!

Could including the vocal version of Presenting the Hook as the final track be a cheeky wink to the community that's been shouting "give us Hook!" for so many years?
