Listen, big deal, we have another problem. Women always recognize poorly written opening crawls. Always.

I wholeheartedly agree. This is a truly inspired End Credits Suite, one I very often revisit. It flows in a way you really don't realise how one theme paves the way to the next. He speeds up Yoda's Theme to match the sixteenth notes motor of the End Titles music. A little rallentando to strike the Imperial March (with that delightful middle section), including a little coda to go seamlessly to Han Solo and the Princess.

I've always been impressed how Williams could write so much quality music for this film in such a tight schedule.

It's possible that Williams DID write music for all that, and then JJ preferred the final cut of the film to not have it, and it didn't appear on the OST.

There could be some really special gems in the hour of music we haven't heard yet!

I'm hoping for Julie Andrews to be cast in Episode 8 so her and Williams can collaborate on a show tune.

Poe, a pilot, a Resistance Pilot
Rey, a drop of Jakku sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long long time ago.
Solo, a hero that is dead
Ahh, a sound to follow Solo
    Ren, a Vader-loving threat
That will bring us back to Poe.

I expect another solid score by John Williams, developing all the new themes he has written.

Given that production time of this new trilogy is shorter between each instalment, I think we'll have more continuity in the score, as previous work will still be fresh in Williams' mind.

The Force Awakens score is shit! I wish Hans Zimmer and Michael Giacchino had scored the film together, it would've been god-like.

Williams needs to retire. His music is too confusing with all those different musical instruments happening at once. Hans Zimmer's music is so much easier to understand because every instrument is playing the same notes at the same time, all the time. It makes the music more memorable.

Yes he was by far one of the best things in the Prequels from his reserved senator persona and political double dealing to the cackling maniac Darth Sidious throwing senate pods around.

There's a Piano Solo Songbook being released (and available for pre-order), additionally, including the following cues:

Previews are available here and it seems Interactive + Print Editions of the piano arrangements can already be ordered directly there. Easy versions are available as well. Could anyone confirm this?

Measure 9 from the piano arrangement of March of the Resistance differs from the OST version, by the way - the A is definitely sharp in the OST track, whereas it's natural here. Not sure if that's an error or a deliberate amendment.

No piano arrangement of The Falcon, by the way?  I'll have to arrange it myself.

I love the scene where Palpatine becomes the Emperor. It was certainly helped not only by Williams' score, but also McDiarmid's awesomely over the top acting, a breath of fresh air after two movies of boring monotone performances. See, there, the politics weren't really complicated. It was a supervillain running amok with power and just having a fucking field day.

You are right. Is not that they can't work with the material. They just cannot do a commercial release until Sony's contract expires. I'm sure new releases are in the works, at least on the first stages.

I think he is involved in a Star Wars related project, judging from the JWFAN exclusive interview where he said an "Imperial Decree" impeded him from talking about any future releases.

Well exactly, he wouldn't say he's forbidden from talking about it unless he's signed a contract forbidding him from discussing it! Put two and two together.

As for the prequels, Disney won't wait until Sony's contract expires to start working on it. They'd be getting those prepped in advance to allow for a release the week Sony's ownership finishes. The recording sessions are owned and stored at Lucasfilm, after all.

I'd have preferred a clearer political framework. I was confused the first time I watched the movie, but the second time I realized there is enough information (main title crawl, some dialogue and General Hux's Hitlerian speech) to know basically what is going on.

The destruction of Hosnian Prime and the other planets of that system is the part that needed a little bit of elaboration, in my opinion. Looking so much like Coruscant, I really thought they could have managed to name at least once what planet it really was. And the movie was done with it pretty quickly, and doesn't give us the chance to realise that the legitimate government that supports the Resistance, with the senate and central planets of the Republic, is completely wiped away, and the general inestability that would bring..

I guess the longer version of Jedi Steps could be a more developed setting of the theme, while the shorter one is exactly as the cue as heard in the film. It's interesting that the Finale also have two different coda options--I guess one is gonna be as heard on the OST with Luke's theme on celesta and piano and another one probably more traditionally bombastic for all those who cannot avoid finishing the suite with a big splash of trumpets and cymbals
