Ah yes, the new Nolan flick will come out soon!

Lets see if you can express yourself with a little bit more dignity this time.

It's not about liking or not liking this crap. Music is subjective and you can like and listen to whatever you want to. I have crap I listen to. But every single person in this forum can do this track. One finger down on the keyboard for the drum loop, and it is a drum loop because I have it and I have used it. One finger down on the repeating note. You put your finger down and it repeats at the exact tempo you are in. You have to do nothing, and one finger down for the other sounds that you are bending. IE: LAZY LAZY LAZY!!! It's fine to use samples and loops, but you still should write music around it, through it, on top of it, even if you are keeping it simple. This can be done by anyone, without any knowledge of music. You don't need to know one instrument or be able to read music. This track literally takes 10 minutes of your time at best to do. That's it.

If that's how the touch sounds like, I'd rather be out of it than in.

It might be effective in the film, but I have to agree with ocelot: this is damned lazy, even by Zimmer's piss-poor standards.
BATTLE IN THE AIR it ain't!
If this is the future of film scoring, then I'm going to give up and start listenening to thrash metal.

Yeah the piece is trash, but of course Zimmer remains 'revolutionary' and the 'modern day Beethoven' according to every comment section related to this piece.

I'm sure it works well enough in the film, but to call this piece anything other than repetitive, lazy and boring, is simply a lie.

What the hell is this crap? Are we just putting one finger down on the keyboard and people are calling this intense and amazing? This is pure SHITE!!!!!

Well, would you rather a trilogy of new John Williams Star Wars scores or John Williams scores for Bridge of Spies & Ready Player One?

I'm inclined to think whatever Williams would have written for the latter wouldn't be that much more inspired than Newman & Silvestri's efforts. Very different story if the situation were reversed and someone else had done TFA and TLJ...

No reason why you should. The Last Jedi has finished recording.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End did the same thing quite well IMO and everybody hated it. Every character has their own understandable motivation and every one of them is trying to manipulate events in their favor, like Jack did in the previous installments.

With Fantastic Beasts, I think it's just a matter of Rowling not knowing how much is too much, a problem she had in some of the novels as well.

Well sure most of the audience isn't worried that the wizarding world could become exposed, but the characters would be at that point in the world's history. You know there are also going to be fans who are introduced to the world starting with these movies. The storytelling may work better for them.

I think it served multiple purposes plot wise. It set up muggle characters who could be killed to raise the stakes for the wizards. So when the senator's son got killed, it was an Oh Shit moment for the magical Congress. It also gave a reason to jail Tina and newt and made the environment even more hostile for the wizards, so that they had to pull the elaborate stunt of erasing the memory of the entire city.

I daresay the film turned out way better than it had any business being. I thought it would be a rubbish cash grab like her horrible stage play but this actually turned out to be a very solid story by Rowling with some very good characters.

I hate LPs. They warp in a hot car and I have not found a turntable that stays put on my dashboard. Every time I hit a bump, I need to pull over to reset the needle. Rear ended a guy last week just trying to flip over my Temple of Doom record. The judge was a prick and seized my license. I'm probably going to lose my job, my apartment, and my health insurance. This vinyl craze has to stop.

Indeed.  Such a shame what's happened to a franchise previously so well known for its restraint when it comes to licensing and merchandise.

I forgot that Jude Law had been cast as Dumbledore and now I remembered and now I'm sad.

Don't get me wrong, I think Jude Law is actually a really, really talented, and even underrated, actor.  I want them to stop casting big movie stars like Depp and Law.  They're just distracting.

I do think that Law has a greater chance at convincing me he was a good choice than Depp, though.

When I get my LP12 set up, I'll do a vinyl/CD  comparison, just for JWfan
Personally, if people want to buy vinyl, let them, as it means more people get to hear JW music, and that's a good thing.

Mike Matessino justed posted this on his facebook page:

"For ---'s  sake, tomorrow's the Fourth of July! I got to do a full essay on the music for this which the Maestro himself said he was very impressed with. Very humbling to get to work on these things."

    Details from Monodotees page:

"One of the finest achievements in film music and quite possibly the most iconic score of all time, John Williams’ score to JAWS is an absolute essential for soundtrack collectors. While the Grammy-winning 1975 MCA album was a re-recording, Mondo’s 2XLP set presents the entire Academy Award-winning score as composed and recorded for the actual film in its first-ever vinyl release. Album co-producer Mike Matessino restored, edited and mixed the music from the original studio elements for the best possible quality, approved by the composer himself."

Pressed on 2x 180 Gram Ocean Blue Vinyl. Also available on 2x 180 Gram Black Vinyl.

If the "Angry Dumbledore" was just that one isolated incident I probably wouldn't mind it that much, but everyone in GOF is so over-the-top and Dumbledore seems constantly pissed throughout the whole film that it makes that scene a convenient scapegoat for the overall issues with its choices in tone and characterization. I think it's actually wildly entertaining as a standalone action/adventure but it reminds me the least of the spirit of the books out of all the films, so it's hard not to be of two minds about it.

Whereas a movie like POA, I get the gripes about the adaptation of the plot stuff, but to me it translates the whole vibe of what Rowling was trying to do with that world so well that I give it high marks as an adaptation. Characterization is mostly respectful of the book counterparts (I think this movie has the best Harry, actually), and visually it reminds me a lot of her wordplay in those books -- the way it emphasizes the seasonal transitions, or compositions that show off the geography of the castle or casually draw your eye to little details. Columbus/Newell were always a little more insistent on the magical stuff than Rowling, whereas Yates generally kept himself a little too distant from it all for my liking (while paradoxically being a bit too cutesy on the occasions that he did engage in the whimsy, such as IMO the Dumbledore's Army training montage or the potions class in HBP.)
