Probably, the score is the only thing from this movie that aged well.

GerateWohl reacted to Ricard in What 5-10 scores were expanded first?
From Goldsmith, King Solomon's Mines ('91), Supergirl ('93) and Poltergeist ('97). Omen Trilogy is from 2001 and Poltergeist II from 2003.

Looks like JW finally has written his own biography, and he also came up with the best title.

Hard to narrow it down but to the above I’d add the Gerhardt Citizen Kane compilation which is brilliantly performed in great sound but has some less well known gems like White Witch Doctor and Beneath the 12 Mile Reef (one score I’d love to have re-recorded in full I must admit).

    A nice starter:
Psycho (Varese re-recording) North by Northwest (original recording on Intrada or WaterTower, or Varese re-recording) Vertigo (Varese re-recording) Herrmann's Decca phase four albums

I'm going to try that! I might finally hear the end of the album.

Are we sure this isn't more of a Thom Yorke solo album?

The ultimate example, to me, is Morricone's WHAT DREAMS MAY COME. It is - in fact - my second favourite Morricone in general! Not to say the Kamen is bad, but it's in a whole other league.

But loads of other examples. I prefer Bernstein's LAST MAN STANDING over Cooder's. Illaremendi's LA LENGUA DE LAS MARIPOSES over Marenabar's. Corigliano's EDGE OF DARKNESS over Shore's. Chris Young's AN UNFINISHED LIFE over Lurie's. Goldsmith's TIMELINE over Tyler's. And loads more I can't remember off the top of my head.

I wouldn't. It is the best part. But luckily Williams did it the other way round and took out the march from the Love Theme for once.
Why did I point this out? I like the one and the other not. So, I like them to be separated. Maybe it's again my secondary theme thing.

I am not looking at the musical quality but rather on the effectiveness of the piece in the movie, and I am not a fan of the Superman march. Anyway, I think in general a march is not a good musical genre for a superhero theme.
And in the movie the Avengers theme works perfectly.
Apart from the march, yes, the Superman score is far better, but the comment was just about the theme.

GerateWohl got a reaction from Yavar Moradi in Best Goldsmith action scores/tracks?
I think, action music is not necessarily Goldsmith biggest strength.
Anyway, I must confess, I like his Supergirl soundtrack, even though it is not so prominent. It is somehow the rough Goldsmith counter work to Williams' Superman score.

There's a good 8-minute suite played by the LSO, conducted by Roy Budd.
