  1. Yes (he said embarrassedly) I backed at In Like Jerry. The latest update I found is in the Comments section of their Kickstarter, around April 10, from "Collaborator" Joe Sikoryak: So I'm relieved somewhat, but still nervous because of my weird payment situation/debacle (long story). Same here, waiting for the hard copy. I did manage to get the digital volumes, but there's just something about reading an actual physical book.
  2. Hmm, good question. Any former football stars now retired and picking up commercials and acting gigs planning to murder two people 8-10 years from now...? But I do think Liam Neeson is actually an excellent choice, I can absolutely see him doing a great job playing Frank Drebin. Or will Neeson play a new character, and we get little references or easter eggs of Leslie Nielsen? I think I'd be OK with that. The Variety article linked above doesn't appear to specify Neeson will be Drebin, but I have no idea if any other press releases or official announcements have confirmed Neeson as Drebin. Don't crucify me, but... Michael Giacchino? Wouldn't be all that far from his Incredibles work, IMHO. (eta "s" at end of "Incredible")
  3. Update: Mr. Jeff Bond was kind enough to help me with the digital versions (thank you!). As for the physical copies, I am a lot less concerned after an update via Kickstarter... It looks like those address-verification emails won't go out until the books are actually printed. So no need to worry about not getting that email yet. (On a 99%-unrelated note... In my brand new original novel, the main character has two good friends, Jerry Willems and Johnny Goldschmidt... Johnny is a bit more reserved, Jerry is a bit more brash. Well, I enjoyed writing it anyway. )
  4. I know very little about him myself, but wow, what an impressive collection! Kudos to you and anyone who's worked on it!
  5. Already emailed that one, plus creaturesales@gmail.com. I have a feeling I'm just going to be SOL, and I ain't talking bout the Satellite Of Love. Oh, well.
  6. Does anyone know how to contact these people? I had card issues at the time of charging last year, contacted them and they suggested PayPal, which I did. I received confirmation they received payment, also I was later able to confirm my correct name to use in the Backers list. However, I never received the mailing address confirmation email, nor have I been given access to the digital editions. I was an In Like Jerry level. I have emailed and messaged via Kickstarter, but I can't comment directly on the project's Kickstarter site as I'm technically not in the system as a Backer. I am still waiting for a reply to any of my communications. I've been looking forward to these books for a long time. Thank you!
  7. Might have to check this one out. Man, this brings me back to the old days, playing "F-15 Strike Eagle" on my Commodore 64 with the "Top Gun" soundtrack blaring out of my cassette player. My God, I feel old.
  8. Oh what a giddy couple of days! November 22, 1993 I turned 21 and legally able to drink in my state. So that night, my buddies took me out drinking. The second place we went to, and this around midnight, we find a Doctor Who pinball machine! And it just so happened that November 23, 1993 was the 30th anniversary of Doctor Who (my favoritest TV show ever)! What does this have to do with the Star Wars Anthology, you ask? We'll, I happened to be working at a music store (CDs, cassettes, etc, not instruments), and that Monday, the 22nd, as usual we received that week's releases. So I may have purchased it on the 22nd, the day before its actual official release. So it's very possible I might have owned a copy before any of youse guys! 😁 And since I was off that 23rd, I was able to enjoy the set all day long. Ah, good times. (And no, I was not hungover, surprisingly enough, though I expected to be. Must be my Wisconsin blood.) ETA: Part of the fun of that box set release was playing it over the store's speakers, and every now and then catching the eye of a fellow fan as they heard it and looked over at the counter, perhaps thinking, holy crap, they're playing Star Wars in here! Especially if it was in the disc changer on random with Crowded House or Young MC or Annie Lennox or whatever. 😉
  9. I saw the Holiday Special on its original airing in 1978 and survived to tell the tale. Not meaning to be insulting or provoking or trolling or anything like that, I swear to God, but... I just don't see how anyone could seriously, honestly say that the HS is better than any of the 9 episodes and 2 SW Stories. They all have their flaws, some very, very much so, but to claim that 2 hours of Wookiee shit and awful guest star turns, is better than the movies... More watchable? More enjoyable? Sure, absolutely. But apart from the knee-jerk "Disney sucks" rhetoric and the like, I seriously cannot believe anyone truly believes the HS is better than any of the films. Really? Really? But if that really is your honest-to-God feeling, I will respect that as you are entitled to have your own opinions. If nothing else, give me 2 hours of hearing John Williams music, instead of Diahann Carroll, Jefferson Starship, Bea Arthur, and whoever the fuck did that godawful music for the holo-circus or whatever the hell that was. And the Boba Fett cartoon is utter crap, I'm tired of hearing that called "the only good thing about the Holiday Special". It's not. There are ZERO good things about the Holiday Special. (Apart from the commercials. 😉 ) You mileage may vary. 🙂
  10. Wow, I never noticed that on the OST! I would guess "Intro" is correct, despite what the cue list has it as. In terms of the film it's during our introduction to River. And I can't recall anyone or anything going into a river at any point in the film. I've seen other instances of cue sheets and sheet music having misspellings. None spring to mind of course (thanks, brain), but I swear I've even seen at least one JW cue where I think a character's name is misspelled. I'm relieved to hear the "Haven Guitar" track on this release was not a DVD rip. Thanks for checking that! I wouldn't mind being hired as a proofreader, I'd do a damn sight better than a lot of them. If they're even actually proofread. I read a "Doctor Who" original novel from circa Space Year 2000, and holy geez that thing had an error at least every 2 to 3 pages. It was so frustrating to read. (Edited to add a "y" to "ever" in the next to last sentence. Took me literally only a second or two to notice it once I posted it. Did I spell it wrong? Did autocorrect do it? Well, my autocorrect has been insisting "cue" should be capitalized every dang time, so who knows. But see how fast and easy it was to catch a simple error like that? 😁 ) (Edited again to add, well my first sentence in this reply shows I ain't perfect... D'oh!)
  11. Well, thankfully Kaylee, Wash and Simon are on the back of the booklet. And oh my goodness, that booklet. Apologies to Daniel Schweiger if you're here, but oh dear those were very poorly written and edited liner notes. Poor grammar, punctuation errors, missing words, poorly worded sentences, the word "the" in front of almost every mention of the ship, and just flat-out mistakes (Nathan Fillion was a former co-star of Buffy? He wasn't on Buffy until 2003, well after the 2002 debut of Firefly). Do editors or proofreader actually exist in this world anymore, or are we all just relying on autocorrect for everything now? I pray that the actual music presentation on the CDs isn't as messed up as most everything else with this release has been. Sorry to be so negative about this release. I love the movie, it's score, the TV show and everything, which is why it's so frustrating seeing such poor quality on this release. Still, I always smile when I see familiar names on trumpet in the orchestra lineups. 🎺
  12. Wow. I'm only up to Farewell Neverland on Disc 2. I had no idea I'd be hearing so much new stuff! Seriously, it seems like it's filled with bits and pieces I've never heard before. Wow. I've had several versions of this score throughout the years, and not only is the sound quality excellent, the packaging and presentation is/are great, I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M HEARING NEW-TO-ME HOOK MUSIC! 😀 To everyone involved in this release, bravo and thank you! I almost don't want to listen to Disc 3, because after that it'll be over. 😥 What with seeing lovely Bernard Cribbins make his last appearance in Doctor Who on Saturday, then Taylor Swift being in my neck of the woods Sunday night, and the Packers winning, and Hook arriving Monday... It's been an emotional week! (Guys, Taylor was less than half an hour away from me!! ❤️) Edited to add... Maggie actress Amber Scott, vocalist on When You're Alone, is 39 now, and wowzers!
  13. L-R: Jayne, Book, Inara, Mal, Zoe, River. Where TF are Wash and Simon??? My God, that has to be one of THE worst covers I have EVER seen. Still pre-ordering it.
  14. As a Doctor Who fan for over 40 years, here's my take on a couple of things. Davros - If only RTD hadn't said a bloody word, I highly doubt there would be this s**tstorm, at least to the extent or intensity that there's been. I actually have no problem accepting this different Davros IF any further Davros stories are set BEFORE his injury/accident/disfiguration/etc. But thank goodness it's still OK for older, slightly hunched white males to be portrayed as villains... Daleks colorised - Meh, I know what they were trying to achieve, but as long as the original, black-and-white 7-part story is still readily available, I'm not too interested. But the obsessive collector in me says I MUST buy it The Daleks and sexism - I was watching the recent 4k versions of the Peter Cushing Dalek movies, and I still am not sure what caused them to put one of those "Hey, this is a really old movie, we don't think or say or do those kinds of not-very-nice things anymore, honest" warnings in them... What are they warning against? Is it the sexism? That's about the only thing that strikes me as "offensive" in any way in those. Tales of the TARDIS - Sweet and lovely and for this long-term fan somewhat touching and emotional. And damn but Nicola Bryant still looks good! Also... it's back tomorrow!!!!
