Not really. Some the opening track in the concert version is the full film-version of "The Eyeland" & "Worlds Worst Beach Party". And other tracks are Suites created for the concert featuring new instrumentation. And Trombones that enter too late... really.. listen to this

Reviving this topic just to mention that "Just Down West Street... on the left" was moderately revised (about 30 various changes to harmony, rhythm, orchestration, and dynamics) by JW before the Tanglewood on Parade performance on 8/2/22 (JW Conducting the TMC Orchestra). That revised version was repeated on 8/20/22 by the BSO, and again on 9/27/22 by the LA Phil. JW stated in general terms when revising the piece that he never fully finished it to begin with, and was happy to have the chance to work on it again.

That and the Emperor’s theme where the biggest omissions theme wise, they even cut it out of Asteroid Field.
would have loved to hear Immolation Theme also. Still a great concert.

I loved it! The choir sounded great, and the two vocal soloist likewise sounded great. I enjoyed it far more than the Azkaban concert, I think because If I werre to make a list of Williams scores I'd like to see presented like this, Azkaban probably wouldn't make the top 20 as much as I love some of the pieces from it. My girlfriend heard someone complain at intermission that the music was too loud in the mix - which I thought was the point. Having said that, it did drown at the dialogue at times. That didn't bother me though. And poor horn player hit a wrong note during the one quote of the Gondor theme during the council of Elrond scene. But well one note out of millons, it was just noticeable. The Two Towers is scheduled for September 2024, and hopefully that means The Return of the King in 2025. That would surely be a mamoth undertaking!

I'm seeing Fellowship of the Ring tonight in concert in Seoul tonight, my second of these kinds of concerts - the first was The Prisoner of Azkaban. I just realized it's been a long time since I listened to Shore's LOTR rings music.

I'm as familar with the scores as any others, but it was a nice change to listen to a few pieces last night while walking home.

And actually, I had almost forgotten this Tolkien part of the this forum existed, - I usally just visit the Willians part, the general film music section, and very occassionally the "Other Topics" part. Looking forward to exploring the Bear McCreary threads although I have read all his blog posts...I just haven't watched past the second episode for no reason in particular - well, I guess the show didn't really grab me, but I do remember watching the first episode right when a nap happened upon me, so that played a part in my lack of interest in the show, which does not at all extend to the music.

Regarding tonight's concert, I'm curious how the Korean choir will handle the Khazad Dum parts which those Maori deep grunts!

This would have been a huge film music week if I had managed to score tickets to next Saturday's Williams concert in Japan. Alas!

Listening to the set.  OK, there is indeed a lot of new stuff on here. I really liked the old album already, which had some good action music, but it is really surprising to experience this material in the context of the entire score. Some of the new stuff is way more aggressive than what we've heard before. Let's put it this way: the old CD felt like one of those anguished Horner drama scores, the new expanded set pushes it more into the action territory. It almost feels like something you would hear in a Medal of Honor video game. I think a lot of people will be really surprised by this shift. If anything, definitely a significant upgrade.

A recent insightful interview with John Powell, where he mainly explained his work on Still:
    https://awardswatch.com/interview-composer-john-powell-on-finding-the-right-note-for-hope-in-still-a-michael-j-fox-movie/
This interview basically explains how he got involved in Still; it’s actually the director’s daughter 😄

But one of the highlight of the article is where he gave a tease for his next work in Migration:

It’s quite rare for John Powell being so confident about his work. And him being full on on the flying theme, woww 🤩😭, reading this in the beginning of my morning really brings joy!
    Really can’t wait!!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the official sheetmusic for piano omits that part, as you noticed. I have ait t home, but I'm on vacation far from home... So there's no official arrangement of the entire piece, but as you found, there are quite a few people with good ears (and interest in Williams) who make their own transcriptions and also analyze them. This should be of some help:

    Update!!! SUCCESS

Curiosity/anger/disappointment made me log in again at about 10:15 and I was shocked to see that tickets popped up again in 3 seating categories.

I tried again but as soon I proceeded to the next screen, 2 of the categories had disappeared.

I finally managed to score 1 seat in the cheapest category!!!!

Now tickets are definitely gone (?). (Update: tickets seem to be randomly appearing but disappearing pretty quickly)

Wanted the VIP, but will settle with the seat I got. Just lucky to be going!

Sweet man! Will see you there 👍

He's saying that since Bear spent a lot of 2022 writing music for Rings of Power and God of War Ragnarok (not to mention The Serpent Queen, We Have A Ghost, and The Witcher Blood Origin), he isn't surprised that much of Foundation Season 2 was farmed out to co-composers.

I'm not going to lie—I was excitedly curious how quickly this news would hit JWFan!

For those who don't know me, I've been writing about film music and interviewing composers (and directors and actors) professionally for the past decade. Besides the many liner notes, I also write articles and create radio stories for mainstream news outlets like the L.A. Times and NPR. I teach a film music history course at USC. And I've been a card-carrying member of this site since 2003.

I won't divulge too much just yet, because it's still a little early, but I was excited to finally make it public that this book is happening. I've been working on it for three years now, and I've interviewed approximately 150 people. The big kahuna, of course, is John Williams. I plan to share the story of how that happened one day, but not yet.

Thanks for your excitement! I can promise you that there are many things (stories, facts, quotes) in this book you have never heard...
