Lately I've been enjoying the debut solo album from Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore

I randomly checked it out via Youtube Music, and found that when playing the album there, a music video for EVERY track plays alongside the tracklist... apparently she shot a video for every track on the album?  Has anyone done this before?  I'm not complaining, she's easy on the eyes!

Wow.  This is weirdly great.

Hank Williams - Van Halen

In the first moment that is really funny. But basically that would work with more or less every song where the melody stays in the same key.

Why is he directing music videos now?

Here's a whole Variety article about it

https://variety.com/2022/music/news/steven-spielberg-directs-marcus-mumford-first-video-cannibal-1235318877/

He filmed it on a smartphone and Kate Capshaw was dolly grip and art director

Maya Hawke, the actress who plays Robin on Stranger things, released a pop single today, and for some reason the music video is pornographic. Not safe for work!

The album's on bandcamp

When I was 15 in 1989, I discovered Roy Orbison, which passed away a few months ago. Fascinated by "Mystery Girl", it will take me a little more effort to appreciate his hits from the 60s.
  • Mystery Girl (1989)
  • The Legenday Roy Orbison (1989)
  • The Singles Collection (1989)
  • Traveling Wilburys - V1 (1988)

I got a used copy of that last year. I'd like to replace the LED battery and I found guides to do that online, but so far I haven't managed to get the LED out of the case.

2 gigs for me this week, both Scottish bands ... tomorrow night, Simple Minds '40 Years Of Hits' outdoors (it's my first 'no seating options' gig in 3 years, so I've taken Wed off work ... I'm not as young as I used to be, FFS!) and Travis on Fri night, playing their album 'The Invisible Band' in full plus a hits set (that one's indoors, and fully seated).

Today I arrived at work to find myself alone in the office for the day.  So I checked out the newest albums from Porcupine TreeCoheed and Cambria, and Dream Theater, all of which I hadn't heard yet, and all of which were good!

I've liked Simple Minds ever since I heard "Love Song". I hope they play a full-fat, balls-to-the-wall version of "Kick It In"?

Where I live is the answer to the question: "Why Does It Always Rain On Me"?

Odd, considering its heavy use by Tony Banks/Genesis, which Richard seems to be fine with.

Or did you mean Dx7?

No, RTB, Alex does not mean the DX7, because...

Yamaha CP-70 electric piano, which Richard absolutely despises!

... Alex is right. The Yamaha electric piano is thin, and weedy. It's the sound of laziness. It's the sound of plastic.

I hate it. I don't hate songs that feature it. I just hate it.

I hope for a rousing 'Waterfront', a singalong 'Don't You Forget About Me' and a goosebumpy (for obvious reasons) 'Belfast Child'. Amongst others.

Well, we got these (including an chucklesome moment where we sang the 'la la la la' bit from Don't You Forget About Me for so long that Jim Kerr tapped his watch and said 'It's all right for you lot, I've got work in the morning!') plus Act Of Love, Glittering Prize, Someone Somewhere In Summertime, Love Song, Let There Be Love, Alive And Kicking, Book Of Brilliant Things, Theme For Great Cities, See The Lights, new song Vision Thing, Mandela Day, Promised You A Miracle ... I THINK that was everything.

Brilliant!

I know what you're trying to do ;)

Again, love the song; love the album; don't love the Yamaha.

On a not-totally-unrelated subject: Steve Hackett's Genesis Revisited is at Croperdy, this weekend, along with The Trevor Horn Band (aka The Producers).

Talking about French music, I really really liked the first two Guesch Patti albums.

They probably used the Yamaha CP-70 as well.

Define 'groovy'!

You cannot just march or headbang or disco fox to it or drive your car, but you can actually dance to it.

Impossible! You cannot love the album and hate the instrument that is so dominant on it. You would cringe every other second.

Anyway, you left me no choice so here it is ...

Alex, you bastard!

You're right; I love this! Ok, ok; I tolerate the Yamaha, and I must accept it, but I still think it's altogether plasticy.

Is that good enough?

Nice, @Sweeping Strings, but...er...no "Sanctify Yourself"? No "Kick It In"? No "Real Life"? No "She's A River"? No "Neon Lights" (I like their version)? Hmm.

Yeah ... must admit when I saw their onstage time was 9:00 and the venue's curfew is 11:00 (there are apartments on one side of it), I knew a 2 hours plus gig wasn't gonna happen.

Good wee (as we say here in NI) Travis gig last night ... I stopped off for a pint in a pub on my way to the venue, pub is opposite the spot where Simple Minds played. Last night the 'gig' there was some sort of dance shite ... must say, it was a pleasure to leave it behind to go and watch actual proper musicians do their thing.

Here we are on our feet for the closing 'double whammy' of Turn and Why Does It Always Rain On Me -
