In the case of Snyder, he just needs to make straight adaptations of these fancy, artsy, 'adult' graphic novels. That was his forte. I don't care if it's niche, just do it! I don’t think Bay is ever credited as a writer, but he definitely rewrites scenes while filming. Ben Affleck’s Armageddon commentary track is hilarious and goes into some of that.
