When it came time to score his big-budget follow-up to the cult classic ESCAPE FROM N.Y., director/co-writer John Carpenter, who had inventively scored most of his films (HALLOWEEN, THE FOG, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA), collaborated with the ingenious Shirley Walker (BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, BATMAN MASK OF THE PHANTASM, WILLARD) to create the perfect musical soundscape for the further exploits of Snake Plissken. Building upon Carpenter’s iconic synth template, Walker harness her trademark orchestral power and the result is a full-charging heroic score that takes Plissken to new action-packed heights. Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this expanded release boasts a running time of more than 78 minutes and contains cues that were recorded for the film, but never used. Film music writer Daniel Schweiger brings the listener behind the movie and its score with his in-depth liners and the sharp art direction is courtesy of Dan Goldwasser. Considered to be one of his best works, Poledouris’ bold score continues in his CONAN tradition – and it’s an absolute powerhouse! Essentially, a release for those who weren’t fortunate enough to obtain it previously, this re-issue produced by Ford A. Thaxton and remastered by James Nelson, is a must-have for any film music enthusiast who missed out on grabbing it. Film music writer Randall Larson eschews re-counting ground already covered extensively in previous editions of the soundtrack and instead focuses on an interview he and David Kraft conducted with Poledouris, in the composer’s home, on May 19, 1985. To our knowledge, this is the only detailed, contemporary interview Poledouris gave on this score and much of this lengthy conversation had remained unpublished… until now. Majestic art direction by Mark Banning rounds out this exciting presentation. This is a Limited Edition of 1200 Units.TRACK LISTING:1. Main Title (2:34) 2. Siege of the City (3:24) 3. For next Christmas:http://store.lalalandrecords.com/lala25gice.htmlThanks but that defeats the point of Amazon gift cards, sold at our local grocery chain for points redeemable towards gasoline discounts, especially at Christmastime. Jay 37,371
Right, but I'm sure when the artwork was approved by WB, it was expected to be released in 2013, but then got delayed after that. By the time the Matrix 3 artwork was approved, they probably already knew it wasn't coming out until 2014.
crocodile 8,017
Yeah, but the thing is this album was also supposed to be released in 2013.It doesn't matter, in either case.Karol
Jay 37,371
Obviously both releases were intended to be released in 2013, and both got delayed until 2014. However, as I said, during the moment in time that WB had to approve the artwork for S:TAS, it was still expected to be released in 2013, hence the banner. During the moment in time WB had to approve the artwork for Matrix 3, it was already known it wouldn't be released until 2014, hence the return to the EAC banner. Pretty simple stuff. It is unfortunate LLL and WB couldn't get all 24 of their planned 90th Anniversary titles out in 2013. Heck, I think there are still 10+ we don't even know about yet. Goldsmith brings his decades worth of musical prowess to bear on a young Jack Ryan’s desperate mission to stop a potential nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia, triggered by a Neo-Nazi leader who threatens to detonate a nuke in an American football stadium. Striking themes and motifs abound in Goldsmith’s powerhouse orchestral score, expertly weaving patriotism and hope with chilling dread and nail-biting suspense in equal measure. It’s undoubtedly an important work from this iconic maestro’s final chapter. With an expanded running time almost 30 minutes longer than the original 2002 soundtrack release, this deluxe presentation of THE SUM OF ALL FEARS features previously unreleased score cues as well as bonus tracks and songs – all of it remastered by Doug Schwartz in stellar sonic fashion. Electronic musical geniuses Tangerine Dream find the inner-pulse of this overlooked cult gem about a pair of lovers who attempt to rescue innocent, child-like aliens held captive in a secret government installation and help return them to their world.
