Super 8 was great. I voted for Captain America because it was over the top, just what the film needed. Alan Menken's march was the best music in the movie, though.

Yeah. Captain America is highly enjoyable superhero score and Super 8 beats it by a very narrow margin in overall enjoyment. Both scores are a great throwback to the older Hollywood sound in parts and contain irresistable optimism and bright eyed wonder that makes them so appealing to my mind. Giacchino's approach is a lot subtler but the music does have a strong arc and has an excellent interplay of thematic ideas and a lot of emotion which pays off in the finale. Silvestri's action writing is equally enjoyable in its own right taking a frenetic orchestral approach but has a slightly weaker musical arc. The main theme is a good and most of all a memorable one which I really did whistle while leaving the theater. :)

My vote goes to Captain America. Or should I say Alan Silvestri's Medal of Honor? :P I really like Giacchino's Super 8, which is a very close second (actually an equal, but more people would chose it anyway). Then DH2 and then Thor, which is a much better score than people give it credit for.

Probably Priest, followed by Super 8. Desplat's Potter is typically polished. After that, the drop in quality is steep. Not a terribly memorable summer by any means.

I selected Captain America, thought it was terrific, but Priest is excellent, Christopher Young is fast becoming a "maestro" in his own right.

Planet of the Apes was a better Doyle score.

Desplat's HP7.2 is a very good score in it's own right considering it's Desplat and not Williams. I don't remember anything memorable about Super 8. Don't take that as a negative, I just don't remember it, I'm not saying it's not memorable.

Tyler's Final Destination 5 works well within the film.

Not too memorable by any means. Super 8 is very overrated -- enjoyable but like the film itself, overrated. Captain America is fun, energetic stuff and Priest is solid Young.

My hat goes to Desplat's Harry Potter score. Not nearly as good as his Part 1 score, but memorable and wrenching in places ("Harry's Sacrifice" and "The Resurrection Stone" in particular). Shame a lot of his music was edited or dialed down in the final film, though
