Jay 42,475 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Finally had time to analyze the film/FYC end credits:[0:00-0:21] = UNRELEASED SEGMENT[0:21-1:01] = OST 16 4:20-5:00[1:01-1:38] = OST 16 5:18-5:55[1:38-3:11] = OST 16 6:02-7:34[3:11-3:17] = OST 16 7:50-7:59[3:17-4:28] = OST 01 0:17-2:28[4:28-4:56] = OST 16 0:32-1:01[4:56-5:28] = OST 16 1:07-1:39[5:28-6:48] = OST 16 2:26-3:34[6:48-7:51] = OST 14 0:36-1:39[7:51-end ] = OST 06 4:30-end
Incanus 5,858 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Good work Jason! It really shows how editorially the film version of the end credits was created.
Jay 42,475 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Yup seems as though The Homecoming is indeed his intended End Credits suite, and he just recording 2 different opening flute solos
Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I always thought the flute solo in Homecoming was the original in slow motion or something.
Joe Brausam 228 Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 No, the actual performance of the music differs, not just the tempo. Articulations, etc.
Admiral Holdo 16 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 So did anybody do a breakdown of this and the OST, see what goes where and what's different?Don't tell me to read the last few pages of discussion, I'm talking about an organized list.
Incanus 5,858 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Well on the previous page there is a detailed break-down of the score on the FYC by Jason and my quick guide to combining OST and FYC to make an expanded score.
Admiral Holdo 16 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Ah! I missed that, and now I am made foolish. Thanks, haha.
Luke Skywalker 2,203 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Finally had time to analyze the film/FYC end credits:[0:00-0:21] = UNRELEASED SEGMENTTo me this sounds as the same take form the OST but slowed down artificially.I am wrong, right? (I hope so)
Director of Poltergeist 8,125 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I don't understand why the (brief) opening in the FYC version of Dartmoor was left off the album. It's a much better introduction to the score.

Richard P 4,778 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I fail to understand why anything was done to that track at all.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,949 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 John Williams prefers to present his scores on Cd in a way that he considers it to be a better listening experience on it's own.Surely Richard, you would not dare to question John Williams, who is a grammy winning composer and record producer?
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,949 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 You will suffer for this, Bloodball!
Wojo 2,458 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Surely Richard, you would not dare to question John Williams, who is a grammy winning composer and record producer?Hans Zimmer has won four Grammy awards -- only one fifth as many as John Williams, but four more than you and me combined plus three -- and has also produced a bajillion records, yet he is never exempt from questioning.
Pieter Boelen 1,019 Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Could I ask what there IS on the OST that is not on the FYC promo?
nightscape94 967 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I'm lazier than I thought, I'm just getting around to listening to the FYC Promo. The statement of the Bonding Theme in the second half of "Albert Defends Joey and Harness" is one of the best in the entire score. That 25 second stretch of music alone should have won him the Oscar. I remember it from the movie and was disappointed that it wasn't on the OST. I'm glad that it's on this promo. Powerful stuff.
Little Ghost 7,875 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 The "War" theme is my afavorite theme.
Director of Poltergeist 8,125 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Plowing is better on the OST.

I was happy it's on the promo
SF1_freeze 136 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 It's interesting that i initially thought the FYC sounds better than the OST but in fact i prefer some album tracks over their FYC counterparts.Cues like "Dartmoor, 1912", " Seeding and Horse vs Car", "Plowing" and especially "Dash through No Man's land" sound and seem better on the OST than on the FYC.
Little Ghost 7,875 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 So I am not so sure the FYC version of No Man's Land is an insert:At 3:17 I think I can hear a bit of the film version "insert" bleeding through
Will 2,329 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Has anyone made a War Horse complete edit combining the OST, FYC, and Blu-ray? If so, what's your track list? I was told MrJosh made a good one, but he no longer visits here.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,949 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Josh can always reappear suddenly...with a poll!
Jay 42,475 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 @MrJosh and @Josh500 are two different people.
Will 2,329 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Never mind, MrJosh has responded to a PM! 1 hour ago, Jay said: @MrJosh and @Josh500 are two different people.

Well, it wouldn't be ideal... Luckily it looks like MrJosh will come through for me with his more complete edit. But thanks for offering. Pieter Boelen 1
