Saw the film again yesterday. The score is fantastic and even better than 2009's effort which I also really liked. It's a real shame that what I think is Giacchino's theme for Starfleet itself (both the positive and darker sides of it) is all but absent from the album. I almost felt this new theme had a slight Starship Troopers vibe to it during it's bigger and more militaristic moments. I'm also really missing the Enterprise's underwater reveal and departure from star base.

I hope the re-recording of the Courage theme makes up the end of Kirk Enterprises. It might be almost identical to the 09 version but it sounds SO much better! I also hope there's room in the first few tracks for the thematic material at the start of the film.

Saw the film last night. It's good but was kind of ruined by the very weak sound at the cinema. I don't remember much about the music except for thinking the music for the music for the villains bore more than a passing resemblance to Dies Irae. Anyone else notice?

That image of the ship is from official sources?! The textures on the hull look like something from Babylon 5! Surely that can't be a final film image?
