  1. Even Spielberg himself probably forgets that he made Always lol The Abyss did bomb at the box office back in 89. It's funny that in the late 80s a James Cameron science fiction about water was a box office failure while a DC superhero movie starring Michael Keaton as Batman and an Indiana Jones movie where he fights nazis were breaking records. A little more than three decades later and the exact opposite of that happened

  3. Interesting choice using a track from Spider-Man 2. Hopefully it was intentional 🤞 La-La Land Records (@lalalandrecords) • Instagram photos and videos

  8. Just like Batman, The Last Crusade, Ghostbusters 2, Lethal Weapon 2 and, by the end of the year, The Little Mermaid and Back to the Future Part 2. It must've been a crazy year for movie nerds! Probably the most packed full of blockbusters since Jaws and Star Wars invented the concept.

  10. We’re reaching quantities of Horner expansions that shouldn’t be possible!

  11. While I wouldn't expect the full film version of Viktor's exit to feature on an expansion (it's an edit, no two ways about it) I'd absolutely expect active consideration that they would include an orchestral version of that cue without all the bits they added after. I'm glad someone else finds the plucky strings as annoying as I do. It's not difficult to use A.I. remove the plucking where Victor finally reaches the outside but heck... we shouldn't have to. I suppose the only thing that might stand in Mike's way might be if the cue was put into the film at a point where the elements were available separately but only the full album mix was stored (similar to the stems not being available now for Ripples). That or Williams loves his Jazz so much that he vetoes an orchestra-only version.

  12. Maybe. But this (absolutely awesome) photo from Joe Sikoryak via Lukas Kendall’s blog tells a different story from the same time. This is an early Trek convention photo from 1974. The thing that struck me, beyond how amazing these costumes are, before anyone called it “cosplay” (God, I despise that term), is that most of them are female. And fairly attractive by conventional standards by the looks of it too. I guess they’re still what people would call Nerds, but if I were the right age in ‘74, this is exactly where you’d find me trying to meet the Rand to my Kirk.
