Ah actually I think that's where I found it last year. Thanks!

Being able to rely on BB and SUH being locked in eternal struggle in this thread is a great comfort to me.

Hey guys, don't worry. I just listened to the score, and it's still as great as we all thought it was before someone said it wasn't.

Or have people become so desensitized and cluttered that they can't appreciate it? People's attention spans are so short and they are so overstimulated that unless they hear things like the 'Misty Mountain' theme, they get bored.
It seems pretty clear to me that the people who actually understand music, and have good taste in music (not just pop culture) are raving about the DOS score.

But what he lacks in class, he makes up for in edge. You could cut yourself on some of his posts.

Well I think it's because something like Nemesis was very jarring back when it first came out. It was a brand new island of musical modernity in a sea of romanticism. It's the same reason people's ears bled when Rite of Spring premiered. And then when everyone started trying to delve into Straviniskian territory, everyone's like...wait...that [Rite of Spring] was actually really good.
Now that the entire ocean is modern music, works like "Nemesis", or hell even "U.S. Marshals" really stand out. Nemesis is a damn fine "modern film score." It's intelligent, it embodies everything that "saying more with less" should be.

I never knew Mark O, but by all accounts, he certainly was a human, a male one. He had some opinions, and experienced some things. I even heard that he enjoyed film music.
    Goodnight, sweet prince.

This is something I quite admire about Shore, and really, most film composers worth their salt. The ability to write with full commitment for something that may not be all that inspiring or agreeable. I mean, he worked on Twilight films! Here we have a theme that everyone was quite gaga over, and it turns out it's for one of the most questionable parts of the film. I like that. I'd hope that I could have that same level of integrity in such a situation.

Well I'll say that my excitement is reaching fever pitch. In one week I'll be returning to Middle-Earth with a great group of people in the theater. A slightly different Middle-Earth than I might wish but so what? With the production values of Alan Lee, John Howe, Weta, the acting of Freeman, McKellen, Cumberbatch, the fun of Stephens Fry and Colbert, Evangeline Lilly making me swoon with red haired, leather booted badassery, and of course, the great score, I have enough to enjoy even if the film itself is, at worst, just stupidly fun.
    So there.
