Cerebral Cortex reacted to BloodBoal in The Legend Of Zelda - 25th Anniversary Symphony / Symphony Of The Goddesses / Second Quest / Master Quest / 30th Anniversary Symphony
More new pieces have been added to the 2017 edition of the symphony. Here's the program as shown on the official website:

    So we have:

    - A new version of the Overture (apparently)
    - A piece featuring music from Breath Of The Wild
    - A piece featuring music from A Link Between Worlds (I assume it's not the medley found on the recent CD release, because there's no mention of Triforce Heroes, which is part of said medley). (See EDIT 3)
    - A symphonic movement for Skyward Sword (the symphony now having five parts. Maybe it'll have 6 in the next edition? ).
    - A new intermezzo: Temple Of Time (See EDIT 3)

No recordings of these pieces are available, since there hasn't been a performance of this new edition yet (the first one will be on March 17).

OK, now there's more than enough material for a 3-CD set! Come on, Nintendo! You can do it! Record it and release it!

EDIT: Just found the Temple Of Time piece on Youtube (in a video dated from September 2016), so I suppose it was already included in a previous edition of the symphony (the 30th Anniversary one, apparently). Adding it to the main post.

EDIT 2: OK, also found this website, and it makes things a bit blurrier. Some pieces seem to be listed with two different titles (Skyward Sword Suite and Ballad Of The Goddess and Fi's Theme for example, or Majora's Mask Suite and Majora's Mask Medley), it lists six movements, one of them being for Majora's Mask (which I think could actually be one of the two medleys played as an encore, because I simply can't find a video of that particular movement) and one for Skyward Sword (which I suspect isn't a symphonic movement, but just the medley featuring the Ballad Of The Goddess and Fi's Theme), and it lists a suite for A Link Between Worlds and one for Triforce Heroes, so two separate pieces (while those two games are part of a single medley in the 30th Anniversary CD release)... That being said, I believe the Skyward Sword movement listed on the new symphony program on the official website will be in fact a new piece (10+ minutes long, like the other symphonic movements).

EDIT 3: And now found this video, which helps make sense out of that mess a bit. The Triforce Heroes medley is indeed a separate piece: it features roughly the same music as the one found on the A Link Between Worlds and Triforce Heroes Medley included on the CD release, but the cues are presented in a different order, and are arranged/orchestrated slightly differently too. The A Link Between Worlds piece is actually the Hyrule Castle & Lorule Castle medley featured in the Master Quest edition of the symphony. And finally, the Temple Of Time intermezzo is part of the Master Quest edition of the symphony.

Okay, you're going to have to believe me when I tell you this, because it absolutely happened...

It's kind of a long story but suffice to say I just met, in person, Rian Johnson (yes, THAT Rian Johnson), and I just had to ask him what it's like working with John Williams. I wish I could remember his exact words, but something to the effect of it's been incredible, and also something about how when the orchestra plays the cues for the first time every applauds him when they finish. He said it's amazing that John's in eighties and still sharp as a tack. I also believe the words genius and surreal were used (or something like that).

Basically he's loving the experience (and I'm sure we'll hear him say as much soon enough when people start interviewing him).

I saw this today on Donna's Facebook page (Donna -- you should post that stuff here immediately when you find it!).

It's a rare 1981 interview from the Boston TV News library, shot 07/01/1981, wherein Williams speaks about his first two seasons as leader of the Boston Pops:

For me, the most interesting thing about this film -- which I've never seen before -- isn't WHAT they're talking about, but rather the opportunity to see an unedited interview with Williams. He's 49 years old at this point, and seems a bit terse and at times "intimidating" in his posture. Rather unusual. But still his affable self, of course. Sadly, the audio cuts off around 13:30 when the reporter starts an off-camera conversation with JW. I would have loved to hear what they talked about then. But as it is, it's a "slice-of-life" of a particular day in JW's life in 1981.

Yes. Doyle's ascension has been verified and confirmed with unsubstantiated sources, and substantiated with unverified confirmed sources, and unconfirmed with substantiated unverified sources.

His terms were that Branagh direct the Obi-Wan movie, "Much Ado About Kenobi".

Just watched Minority Report for the first time last night. I listened to the whole OST this morning and realized that I really remembered the following bit of score. I think it plays during the incredibly haunting and emotional pool scene, specifically when Anderton is underwater, I believe, in his last moments of true happiness in life:

    2:46 - 3:07

Sean's theme is absolutely gorgeous, too (it's heard as well in this track). I just thought the short musical moment thing should avoid major themes and should focus on more individual moments, so I chose the sublime above one.

It's perhaps one of the most haunting and beautiful Williams moments, particularly given its context in the film.

Reminds me of the beautiful ending section of "The Scavenger" from TFA:

If you want to write innocent-sounding music, flute, harp and strings are the way to go.

I keep forgetting to post in this thread when I come across a short moment!

I listened to the Minority Report score yesterday and especially enjoyed this very brief section of "Anderton's Great Escape" with some kind of metal percussion sound underneath some neat staccato strings from 5:15 - 5:25.  It almost sounds like someone tapping on a metal railing!

I really love the rhythm of the end of this scene -- how Finn's "Woo!" is followed by a big chord right as the Falcon shoots past the camera. Awesome film/music combo.

My favorite little moment in the interview: when he talks about how Spielberg always films the recording sessions and says "I wonder sometimes what he will do with all that footage."

YEAH JOHN, SO DO WE. WE ARE VERY CURIOUS.

What a fantastic interview, lots of great nuggets in there. Just hearing him refer to The Last Jedi by name was nice, complete with a shout-out to his favourite, Daisy!

One comment that caught my attention was "I'm now beginning to remember [Amistad] very well." Wonder if that's a clue that he's in the midst of supervising an expanded release of Amistad? He made a similar comment about recently re-watching Jurassic Park (presumably for that expansion?) and also revisiting the ending of Munich for some reason.

That would probably be about the best thing I could imagine them doing. Have Luke find a hologram of her with a crucial message she left for him, use footage and audio of Fisher modified with CG and a voice actor (easier to hide under garbled, glitchy hologram effects). The last time he sees her, just like the first time.
