Cerebral Cortex got a reaction from Jay in Fox's Marvel Universe (X-Men, Legion, Deadpool, Fantastic Four, etc)
The new IMAX poster for Logan looks amazing.

The finales to TFA, Lincoln, and War Horse musically represent the Holy Trinity of post-2010 Williams.

Let's just say that it's not just music that is keeping Williams young...

Apologies for posting clickbait, but this is TOO FUNNY!!
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2017/02/australians-love-boning-to-the-cantina-band-from-star-wars/
John Williams is a "top sex artist." And look at the other folks he's listed with!
Methodology, btw, so this isn't total clickbait:

I am not sure this is a distinction John is happy to have.

Not if Warner Brothers has anything to say about it.

It's not unheard of. My other idol is David Attenborough, who's still going strong at nearly 91. He's even touring Australia right now doing speaking tours, so he's not even slowing down!
I'd be lying if I didn't admit I'm anxious about JW, but at this stage I'm just grateful for every new score we're lucky to hear. That he's even writing any scores in his mid-80s is truly remarkable and a gift.

It would probably be the most momentous achievement in film score history to have one composer write 9 scores for one film series over a span of 42 years. Take that, John Barry!
In fact, I'll bet money on it now: the Oscars will give him his 6th Oscar for Episode IX, if he finishes 3 trilogies of trilogies. It'll basically be his "lifetime achievement" award in disguise, and warmly bookend the Oscar he scored for the first film.

If he manages to score all 9 I'll probably collapse

We're a little spoiled. Eight scores in the one series, spanning four decades. Just brilliant!

Every time this gets bumped I still can't believe we're getting another one of these scores so soon, shit. New director, new approach, same old Johnny.
Kinda weird to think that we're now closer in time to Last Jedi's release date than to Force Awakens'....

The last 1:30 of The Peterson House, and Finale could rival A.I., even.

Agreed!
It's right up there with the finale from War Horse for me

Cerebral Cortex reacted to Not Mr. Big in Tintin vs TFA
Tintin might have more cohesive and complex action music but I prefer TFA. It's much more of an "emotional journey" and features one of the best Williams themes this millennium (and perhaps ever).
-
Cerebral Cortex reacted to Loert in Tintin vs TFA
I prefer Tintin.
I find it more musically interesting than TFA on the whole.
However, 'The Jedi Steps and Finale' is the best track out of both scores.

Well there's been a huge evolution in his action writing style over the years but he's also a chameleon writer generally. The BFG proved he can seamlessly slip back into a writing style we thought he left behind 15 years ago.
The interesting thing about Star Wars is that every score still sounds uniquely 'Star Wars-ian' while being uniquely different from the score that came before it.

JNH has started doing vlogs on his facebook page, where he plays piano and talks about himself and his work. And he says he'll be doing some behind the scenes stuff, so hopefully from recording sessions and we'll get to see his writing and recording process.

They really should just inform them of the outcome in special circumstances like these. He's 85 for crying out loud, I can't imagine he has any interest in attending these events only to lose every year. I'm surprised he bothers with the Oscars after being snubbed for a quarter of a century, for some exceptionally mediocre scores no less.

Nice to see some industry acknowledgment. Rewarding his decision to stay on with the series.
Here's hoping he goes the double nomination next year for both of the majors (TLJ and KOEM).
