  1. Would have been nice to give it to Boseman. Not having seen the movies in question, I can't really judge, though.
  2. Not surprised. That movie looked very Oscar winning.
  3. Maybe it has something to do with the different logistics this year?
  4. Minority Report Watched it twice, once alone and once with my brother. I'm not sure I like it all that much, but the pacing is excellent and the visual quality is striking. Maybe I just don't like Tom Cruise. 3/4
  5. My favorite is this one. Jeff Lynne + Roy Orbison was magic.
  6. Brilliant, I'm writing it as we speak. The Terminal The Accidental Tourist Black Sunday Cinderella Liberty (?) The Eiger Sanction The Home Alones, but they are somewhat fantastical Stepmom Sabrina Presumed Innocent Pete N' Tillie @Thor can fill in the 60s era better than I can
  7. Man, that would be interesting. I'd wager TLW is the closest we have to that.
  8. 95% of film score and John Williams fans, that is, ordinary people who enjoy film scores and the music of John Williams, are folks who are more like Holko than not. They are interested in logical, fun, and informative discussion of film music and related topics. The kind of JWFan you want, and that you and others try to create, drives people away.
  9. JFK evoked a mixed response from me, but I still find it utterly captivating. It's quite good.
  10. They filmed part of the first Fast and Furious movie, or the second maybe, in the town I was living in at the time. Closed down one of the main streets.
  11. As some have said, Princess Leia's Theme is one of JW's great works. It has a complete emotional arc that plays out magnificently detached from any context, though I can't help but feeling that JW was working through personal emotions consciously or unconsciously in his music during this period.
  12. Just digitally resurrect Steve McQueen and give me a fanfare and a motorcycle chase scene where I'm riding away from RCP goons.
  13. Nixon is a pretty good score indeed. Plenty of gravitas. I did not like it too much in the film, but that might be because the film felt heavy and misfocused and did not need any more weight, even of the good kind.
  14. That Thing You Do Cute movie. Very hard to dislike, a fun and satisfying way to spend a couple of hours. 3.5/4
  15. The movie's nostalgia and warm feelings drenched approach is perfect. That is exactly the way heartland Americans do myth. Sure, it can feel artificial at times, but it is still the best way to approach the subject. And Hackman and Hopper add just the right amount of gravitas to things.
  16. I responded to a Thor opinion from a different thread here because I conflated all things together.
