Wait, people actually don't like Corellia Chase? That is one of the best tracks of the album for me. It is really an age thing or something? Because you guys are making me feel really young. 

That spot always makes me think of Goldsmith's SUPERGIRL.
 
 

I really like how JP resurrected the ANH Star Destroyer music for Reminiscence Therapy. It's a fun inclusion along with most of the other OT material in that cue.

No, I'd say he did just fine.  Wrote two pretty good themes and arranged them in a tasteful, energetic suite.
Powell surpassed my expectations on the score, though.  I highly recommend Mine Mission, Lando's Closet, and Testing Allegiance.    

I also hear the gang theme in Marauders Arrive, Mine Mission, Break Out and Into the Maw. Might be others.
I hear Chewie's theme in Flying with Chewie, Break Out and Reminiscing Therapy. Anywhere else?
Man, see, this is exactly what I love about Powell scores. So many rich details constantly being discovered after revisit upon revisit upon revisit!

I'm incredibly impressed that each track doesn't feel like it drags at all, and holy shit I've never heard such fast-paced and intense action writing before that never lets up but also doesn't lose my interest.

this is the Star Wars score I never knew I wanted, I'm getting more and more used to the 'un-Star Warsy' elements as I continue to listen because it just serves conveying the emotion and action of the scene so well.
 
EDIT: the moments where Powell goes pure romantic Hollywood are fucking sublime and take me immediately back to the era of the Original Trilogy.

It’s not that we *need* to deprecate Giacchino. It’s just that I think a lot of people, myself included, overlooked the flaws of Rogue One because we figured that Williams set the standard so high that Rogue One was the best could realistically be expected from a non-Williams SW score. Now that we have heard a non-Williams SW that is actually great, it puts into sharp relief how disappointing Rogue One was.

“Lando’s Closet” has become my grown-up lullaby.

"Lando's Closet" is the major one that comes to mind. It's the closest thing you'll get to a concert arrangement of the theme. Also features pretty prominently in "The Good Guy".

Horner didn't patent the usage of the Bulgarian Women's Choir and neither did Williams with overtone singing. All of these much more prevalent in contemporary film scoring than you seem to believe.

If Giacchino is Dominos Pizza, Powell is Pizza Hutt.
Dominos has better drinks, but Pizza Hutt has better everything else.

Just came here to say: HOLY SHIT @ Reminiscence Therapy. What a mindblowing, bonkers track, like a remix of the OT scores on steroids!
 
Absolutely mops the floor with Rogue One in 6 minutes flat! Who'd have Star Wars scores would sound vastly superior with layered orchestration and a mix that resembles a virtuosic orchestra in a symphony hall, rather than sounding submerged underwater! Williams and Powell work gloriously together and all the reinterpretations of Han's Theme threaded through the score are fantastic.
 
It's actually quite fun hearing Williams reinterpreted through the lens of modern writing by a composer who understands symphonic writing and clearly understands Williams' classical sensibilities. The orchestrations are absolutely top-notch, very worthy of a Williams Star Wars score IMO.

I've now listened to it all the way through probably about 5 times. It gets better and better. The B theme (0:41, 2:33) is especially great!
