badbu reacted to A24 in Villeneuve's DUNE
"David Lynch’s adaptation was disappointing. It was missing the power of Herbert’s novel. Villeneuve’s films are much more convincing. The characters are sketched out, they are very identifiable. It’s pure cinema. I speak regularly to Denis, filmmaker to filmmaker. We record our conversations, like Trufaut and Hitchcock." - James Cameron

badbu reacted to MaxMovieMan in Hans Zimmer's DUNE PART TWO (2024)
I’ve uploaded some of the unreleased tracks from Dune: Part Two on my channel. They’re a little rippy but for the most part are pretty good. I used the 5.1 split on Audacity from the Vudu file and some AI for the reduction to overall create a solid product.

Here’s one of the main unreleased tracks.

badbu reacted to Jay in The Official Thread for the Church of Oscar-winning Director and (soon to be) Sir Christopher Nolan
Nolan's first movie was Following. His second movie was Memento. His third movie was Insomnia.
He actually shot a film in between Following and Memento too, but never finished it and it remains unreleased.

badbu reacted to Jay in Hans Zimmer's DUNE (2021)
My physical copy arrived last night
I don't think I've ever seen a CD where the UPC code only exists as a sticker on the shrinkwrap before

It’s unconventional, but great casting.

badbu reacted to Mephariel in Hans Zimmer's DUNE PART TWO (2024)
Breaking just now...
The Supreme Court on Saturday agreed to decide whether the love theme "A Time of Quiet Between the Storms" can also act as a representation for House Atreides. In a one-page unsigned order, the justices ordered a federal appeals court to continue to keep on hold the distribution of the Dune: Part One sketchbook album in order to mitigate the possibility of evidence tempering. Composer Hans Zimmer dismissed the case, arguing that he has Oscar immunity, and cannot be persecuted for musical abstraction, a crime that carries up to 20 years in Clemmensen asylum. "I hate to call it a love theme," he added, "because it is so much more." He has yet to explain what "more" means. His assistant composer Steve Mazzaro emotionally urged the court to drop the case pleading that "Love is universal and can represent all things."

I'd expect at least 6 to 8 months for WB to open the 2024 season

badbu reacted to Mr. Who in Hans Zimmer's DUNE PART TWO (2024)
Listened to the OST again and am really impressed! The development of the themes from the first score is top notch and I love how the Haderach/Messiah theme is used alongside the Arrakis/Dune A and the Dune Main theme. And the love theme is up there with Zimmer's most beautiful themes, the combination of the melody with the accompaniment motif played by the horn sounding instrument and the bell phrase in Kiss the Ring is amazing! I hope that a longer album or a Sketchbook album is planned because the sonic world of these scores is so rich and deserves more album releases!
I'm really looking forward to hearing A Quiet Time Between Storms live at the new WOHZ concert later this spring. I think it will be a slightly more orchestral arrangement which could be a nice alternate!

badbu reacted to Jay in The Official Thread for the Church of Oscar-winning Director and (soon to be) Sir Christopher Nolan
He DPed every Nolan film from Memento to Dark Knight Rises, then directed a movie (Transcendence) instead of continuing to DP for him, and now he's directed 6 episodes of television and commercials for Taco Bell, Hyundai, and Crypto since then and that's about it
Here's an article from 2015 where he states that he wants to direct instead of DP from then on

Missed opportunity. When DeVito pointed out Batman/Michael Keaton in the audience, I fully expected Schwarzenegger to tell him that isn't Batman. Maybe Clooney wasn't there…

With 7 Oscars for Oppenheimer, Nolan has finally achieved godhood.
Next year his apostle Denis Villeneuve will join him in the Olympus.
