Definitely preferred this score to the first one : whereas Into the Spider-Verse was basically hip-hop with a few symphonic passages, this one adds more diversity : we still have this hip-hop inspiration, but also a lot of rock (for Spider-Gwen and Spider-Punk), a bit of Indian music (for Spider-Man India) and futuristic sound design for Spider-Man 2099. Moreover, I love the theme for Gwen, which I think is new (though I can be mistaken). The action music is very fun, and extremely well mixed in the movie. If I have one big thing I disliked, it may be the lack of interest of the calm moments, almost all scored with the same motif, if not only with anonymous Inception-like chords. Loved it in the film anyway, and I can’t wait to listen to the soundtrack !

Of course, I wasn’t talking about JW, but about the best non-Williams SW composer, i.e John Powell. -

In recent years, top-notch composers like Michael Giacchino, Nicholas Britell, and Ludwig Göranssonhave all put their own stamp on Star Wars. Seriously, they don’t even evoke the best one ? -
The one I was talking about is what we hear for exemple at 1:45 in « It really is good to have friends ». We can hear it a few times during the movie and the album.

I saw the movie yesterday, and it was exactly what I was expecting : humor, action, and a lit of emotion. I wouldn’t say the best since Endgame, because MOM is my favorite movie from the entire MCU, but still a great entry. As for the score, it wasn’t as good as anything Bates has written, but it has a good emotional theme and thankfully doesn’t forget the main theme, which appears 4 times. I had a question : I haven’t listened to the soundtrack yet, but I was wondering whether the new main theme was in the Holiday Special or not. Does someone have an answer ?

My hype for GOTG 3 is one of the greatest I ever had for a MCU movie, but these reviews mean absolutely nothing… especially if they think that NWH was a good movie.

That’s great ! I’m happy it will be the last one, maybe it can enable them to slow down on filler episodes. I really hope that this will be the same level as the second half of season 2…

That’s a great subject ! For me, I’d say 1) Zbigniew Preisner, Requiem for my friend (composed for a movie never made due to the director’s death) 2) Claude Debussy, Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune (he composed the first soundtrack ever for L’Assassinat du duc de Guise, so…) 3) Dmitri Shostakovich, String Quarter no. 15 I also love Howard Shore’s Piano Concerto, as well as many of Williams’ works.

Kiner is back ! Great news for thematic continuity, and for not having a Goransson atrocity again !

I find myself rather concerned by this : I hated (like approximately everyone) the sequels, but I feel like exploring the future of Star Wars couldn’t be done without Rey. Anyway, I’m intrigued by this, and just hoping that it won’t be a 3rd version of episode IV… Let’s wait for a synopsis before saying anything. As for the critics against Disney’s strategy, I strongly disagree : SW was always about merchandising, and, if you don’t want to see the new shows or movies, don’t watch them. As bad as they could be, we can just ignore them, so they don’t ruin the saga…
