Thanks, Mel! For about a year, I've been hearing this all over the Ken Bruce show, but I never knew who sang it. Now I know.

Something romantic is usually about to happen whenever that one appears during a television show.

I recently got back into this gem after forgetting all about it since childhood, but hearing it while on a Greek bus last year......

El Cid (Tadlow re-recording) by Miklós Rózsa: Pure magnificence of such intricate construction, themes and emotion crowned by The Legend and Epilogue which not only immortalizes the great Cid but also composer himself. Now this can be called an epic with a good cause.

You only know film music and a few famous radio hits of the '80s but people like Richard and Thor have a bigger knowledge and wider taste in music. Classical, film music or pop ... good music is good music.

PS: maybe the TheWhiteRider should be added to the short list of people with broad taste

    Cheers!

If I ever got married, I'd like my bride to walk up the aisle to "Journey To Blofeld's Hideaway".

For people who aren't as tapped into the community, like me, it was an eye-opening release.  I don't own a single bootleg soundtrack.

    A pity.

The first film is still the best. Bourne actually seemed like a human being. He could talk, and smile and fall in love. And the stunts and fights seemed more realistic and credible then. There was an actual sense of danger.

I've casually enjoyed this score for a number of years now, but at the urging of someone who really loves it, I've been listening today and paying closer attention than usual.  I'll be damned.  It is, in fact, something of a masterpiece.  Possibly his best?  Any other fans here?

It's nice but there are bunch of others I'd place before it. The Grand Budapest Hotel, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Tree Of Life, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button... Maybe have never seen the film is part of it.

    Steven Spielberg called me up
He said "I've made a film"
In the dark I sat there crying
    Watching all those people dying
At the end I turned to him and said
"Steve...someone better needs to score instead"
    And...
Steven said "I know but they're all dead"

These were the lyrics intended for Elliot when he was flying over the moon with ET from an early version of the film...it tested poorly so it was removed.

    Can you read my mind?
Do you know what it is that you do to me?
I don't know who you are. Just a friend from another star.
Here I am, like a kid out of school. Holding hands with a god.
I'm a fool. Will you look at me? Quivering.
    Like a little girl, shivering.
You can see right through me.
    Can you read my mind?
Can you picture the things I'm thinking of? Wondering why you are all the wonderful things you are.
You can fly. You belong in the sky.
You and I could belong to each other.
If you need a friend, I'm the one to fly to.
If you need to be loved, here I am.
    Read my mind.

I listened to my absolute favorite David Bowie record over the weekend, Lodger, and man is that still a pop masterpiece.  I love every single song on this album.

And of course it was made in collaboration with the GREAT Brian Eno! Being a big fan of Eno's solo pop albums of the 70s, I enjoy hearing his unmistakable voice in this section of "African Night Flight," one of the less approachable songs on the album.
