My Summon The Heroes Signature Edition
Many replied to RomanticStrings's topic in General Discussion
Conor, I too am starting my collection. Last year a friend bought "The Cowboys Overture" for my birthday. This year, I treated myself to "Escapades for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra". "Summon the Heroes" is definitely on my list, but I'll probably be getting either "Call of the Champions" or the Harry Potter Children's Suite next. Anthony, who knows how excited Conor must have been when his package arrived. -
Wasn't "Rock Around the Clock" written for The Blackboard Jungle? Neil "Rock Around the Clock" was originally put out on the B-side of a Bill Haley and the Comets 45. The producers of The Blackboard Jungle heard it and thought it would be perfect for the opening credits of the film. Anthony

Didn't this confuse some people in the book, too? I think a lot of people just shut down their brains when you mention time travel. Anthony -
Just got a call from the Boston crowd

Heehee, that would make my name David Alamos. I may have to start using that. I too would like to be able to make it to a concert in the near future, both to see Williams live and to meet some of the board members. I'll be starting a new full-time job soon, and may actually be able to start saving up my money to make it happen, possibly even London? Who knows. Anthony -
I'm sure it's been said before, but it definitely bears repeating. Miguel, the comprehensive John Williams knowledge you possess is amazing, and this community is very lucky to have access to that knowledge. Anthony, who's

A great talent has been lost. Condolences go to his family. Anthony

Sounds like my high school concert band. LOL Kind of depressing to think that some things don't change. Anthony

Favourite Cue of PoA Album(Excluding Mischief Managed)

I voted for The Knight Bus. It was a close call between this and Forward to Time Past. I've always been fond of Williams's more quirky, offbeat music; the music that's not exactly what you would have expected, but nonetheless meshes quite well with what you expect the scene to look and feel like. We've also just gotten Quidditch - Third Year. I think this may be all that they will be playing. The announcer hasn't mentioned that anything else will be coming up. I'll have to listen to AOL download again if this is all we're getting here. Anthony

I'm still very impressed. A Window to the Past contains one of John's most beautiful and melancholic themes. There's still more to come. Anthony

I'm on the west coast, and it's only 1 in the morning, so I may make it through the whole show. I'll let everyone know. Anthony, getting

I am loving this! Just started Buckbeak's Flight. The Knight Bus is great! The ambiance of sound is just perfect for the scene. Anthony

I had to work tonight, and missed it. I'll have to catch a rerun later this summer. Anthony

Congrats, AI. I was very impressed with your work. Thanks to Forge for the contest, as well as his work on converting my MIDI file to MP3 format. Thanks also to the three votes and all the kinds words for my piece, The Second Task. To the other composers, I say great job. I liked all the pieces. Can't wait for the next competition. Anthony

LOL I knew someone would call me on this one. Yes, I really do. I've loved it from the moment I first heard it, while riding my bike between work and school. One of my greatest disappointments in AOTC (and certainly not the only one) was that this cue got so terribly butchered in the film. Anthony, waiting to hear what others have to say.

In random order: The Motorcade (JFK) The Float (Catch Me if You Can) Journey to the Island (Jurassic Park) In the Idol's Temple (Raiders of the Lost Ark) The Planet Krypton (Superman) The Battle of Hoth (Empire Strikes Back) Fawkes the Phoenix (Chamber of Secrets) Zam the Assassin and the Chase Through Coruscant (Attack of the Clones) Arrival in New York (Home Alone 2) Freedom Train (Rosewood) When these tracks (and a few others that didn't quite make the list) come up on my CD player, I will repeat them two, three sometimes four times. They are the tracks that I just can't get enough of. Anthony

Which Attack of the Clones CD Cover Do You Have?
Many replied to Lurker's topic in General Discussion
Poster art. That was what was on TPM CD I had, and I wanted visual unity between the two. Hopefully, they'll continue that with Ep III. Anthony -
This is one of the best laughs I've had all week. Anthony

Great job, Luke. I especially like the Cloud City back to the ESB album. Anthony

How did you react when you first heard Fawkes's Theme?
Many replied to diskobolus's topic in General Discussion
I cried (if only just a little). Fawkes's Theme is one of Williams's most brilliant, moving works and I can never praise it enough. The only other piece to move me to tears was Barber's Adagio for Strings. Williams (like Barber) is one of the great masters. Anthony -
"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" Tracks
Many replied to Crono's topic in General Discussion
This is probably referring to either Harry hearing his parents's voices in Lupin's office while confronting the boggart . . . or . . . the scene in the Three Broomsticks where Hargid, Fudge, McGonagall and Mme Rosmerta talk about why Sirius Black was in Azkaban. Anthony, who can feel the excitement levels skyrocketing as this score (and film) get ever closer. -
That is so cool. Way to go, Jeff. Anthony
-
Well, they should! I hadn't really given any thought to this movie, other than I would buy the soundtrack (of course), but now I'm mildly interested. I'll have to wait and see how this develops. Anthony

I voted for Hermione's Crush. I really liked the POA Suite, as well as Magic (which was rather Elfmanesque, circa Pee Wee's Big Adventure), but Hermione's Crush was so beautiful. I really enjoyed it. Anthony

I have loved Fawkes's Theme from the the moment I first heard it. It's a theme that has continued to get better with each listen. Anthony
