This takes out the fun of being a director, doesn't it? You no longer capture the atmosphere, the mood, the light and interaction the characters have with the set. It's all done afterwards by computer wizards.

I wasn't familiar with the TV show at the time and so the only thing that confused me is that internet peeps called it the best sci-fi movie ever made. Later I learned that these peeps were mainly avid Firefly fanatics. I wasn't impressed with Serenity but I did like it better after I watched the TV show.

It's definitely a big talking movie. But I think it's brilliant. Though I might prefer Hiroshima, the way Marienbad collapses time and memory in its dream-like fashion sits with you days after the credits have started rolling. Transformative cinema at its finest.

Goddammit! Why does everyone see it as the highlight of the movie?! To me, it felt like early Shyamalan, the one that pats himself on the back, directed the basement sequence. There is something very self-conscious about it (and self-conscious in a way that I don't like).
 
Anyway, I'm not a fan of the movie, I only like the beginning, before all hell breaks loose. 

For all the technological tools he had at his disposal, I found Cameron's world building fairly boring and unimaginative. It's basically a rain forest on steroids. 

All I'm saying is that GOT has its likeable, righteous characters. Those aren't always the most interesting or colourful ones but they are necessary to bring some moral balance to the world of GOT. And as you'll find out, even the despicable are human.

Really bad, in almost all respects. The only point of relief was that it was 80 minutes long.
 
Poor writing, acting, cinematography, editing... just, baffling in its student level of quality. 

The thing that does get old is Quint's sinking ship story. It's good when you hear it for the first time, but it was no longer interesting when I last saw the movie. I admit, I've never been a fan of movie characters telling stories to each other. It's something you often see in bad TV shows to give so-called depth to the characters. Yes, it's not the same here, but still, to me it's like a friend telling the same story each time you meat him.

Now that was fun! Just to see the characters when they were younger and before they developed or evolved into different personalities. The only character who looks and acts exactly the same as in the last season is Jon Snow. I guess he merely needed to portray an archetype of the Fantasy hero. 
 

But, as you can see, everything does look a little BBC video like in the first season.

I thought that audio of Blu-ray was supposed to be noticeably better than that of DVD?

I happen to have a Blu Ray player, and quite a sizeable telly. Where I live, it's only available on D.V.D...and I got the last one.
