  1. I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but I know he drinks water. Don't ask me how I know. I just know. And I'd love to know what kind of coffee (if any) he drinks. That would become my new coffee drink.
  2. Thanks for that! For some reason - well because it had non-Williams music in it, I never really listened to this carefully, but listening to Sabrina this past week put me in the mood to listen to this score, and I just discovered what a unique gem "A Stallion" is. I just made an edit at 3:50. I didn't bother adding the ending, and I think it's now my favorite track of the soundtrack. I know that theme appears later in the CD, but i just love this arrangement/version - so light and breezy, whimsical even! And The Wedding piece has a nice clean beginning with that edit made. I hope this is a possibility for an expanded complete release. I never really keep track of what's possible or not. I just hope and hope... and hope some more. PS. I really should also have paid more attention to this post 6 years ago.
  3. I was just thinking that I intensely dislike songs based on themes by Williams that I love. Here are a few that come immediately to mind, and I quite like Sting singing In The Moonlight. For Always, If I Could Remember, If I Were in Love, and Nice to be Around.
  4. Oops. But yes good point. So many missed opportunities!
  5. I'll try! My friend who will try get the tickets lives in Tokyo, so there's a Japanes address, it's just not mine. Complicated! I'll ask her to explore the site, and maybe call. And the friend I might go with lives in Seoul. And she's moving apartments the week before, so she's not sure if she'll go.
  6. Wow, I have a friend in Japan who was going to try get tickets the morning they were due to go on sale - I live in nearby Seoul. This cannot be transfered is a worry. I hope my friend can buy tickets in my name? I trust her with my credit card details. Great, the click for more details link is currently dead. https://www.ozawa-festival.com/en/tickets/programs/2023/program-b.html Argh... the Nihon-go page works: https://www.ozawa-festival.com/programs/2023/program-b.html You can apply for a max of two tickets. Well, I'll be doing that - or at least my friend will. If successful and we can jump through all the hoops, one will be for my lady friend if she can go. If not, it's for someone here. I assume both tickets will be in the same name? I can be in Japan for the Saturday concert, but not the Tuesday Tokyo concert. Drats... but a little hope against hope.
  7. Wow, I always split up tracks that are obviously seperate pieces of music that work seperately (or sometimes if it's not so obvious but just feels ok for me to perform surgery). The Terminal for instance has the ficticious national anthem/source music coupled with the mellow "Homesickness" cure, and the original Schindler's List had the solo guitar piece combined with another track. Combining those is a form of music crime. Plenty of other examples. But I only just realized last night that the piano half of "Sabrina's Theme Reprise" works as its own piece. And now it's one of my favorite "tracks" - it's called "Sabrina's Piano" - Didn't take me long at all to think of that track title. I have a real talent for naming tracks. And I've had the CD since the release of the film. It's taken my almost 25 years to realize that. I clearly wasn't listening closely enough. I'm curious if that will be its own track on the new release. And no, that didn't escalate quickly at all! It escalated slowly over what feels like months! Another score related thought. Perhaps we don't know yet... but did Williams compose any source music ala his breezy jazzy fucky source music of the past? Besides the piano arrangements mention in the podcast? Sourece music unrelated to the film's musical themes?
  8. I'm looking forward to getting to know Helena's Theme through the various quotes of it we're sure to get. I'm another one who hasn't totally clicked with this piece yet, and expect that'll change. And... well everything else as well. Music for Nazis - did I just type that? And the McGuffin thingy. Travel music, music that conveys exotic locations etc.
  9. We're really analyzing his words! Considering he used the word "several" for the Horner releases, which I take to mean three. It could mean three or more, but I just think it's more likely he meant three. Thus, I conclude in this case "a couple" means two, exactly two. I don't think he meant at least two. He would know the exact number. He would have used "several" or "a few" if there were more than two. Interesting that among native speakers from various parts of the world, the word "couple" can vary in meaning. Of course, I hope he meant more than two, but I just don't see any room for ambiguity. Anyway, my hopes... The Patriot and Catch Me If You Can. Aren't there a ton of alternates for Catch Me If You Can? Written at least if not recorded. I seem to remember Williams rewrote the opening titles a few times. Am I remembering correctly or imagining things?
  10. Revisted the score yesterday and just realized that of the three main themes - the main theme, Moonlight, and How Can I Remember (the score not the songs) - of those, the main theme is my least favorite, Not that I dislike it, I just like the other two more. Is Williams' Moonlight a concert arrangement? I've only seen the film once, and I don't recall ... well ... anything.
  11. Just clear English. There's no reason to think a couple in this case means anything other than two. Mike's currently working on two Williams releases for Intrada. This is a hill I will die on!
  12. I think it's used because there's uncertainty - the package will arrive in a couple of days, so it could be longer. As in "I'll be back in a couple of minutes" - it doesn't literally mean two minutes. But yeah Doug would know exactly how many Williams releases Mike is working on for Intrada. So two for certain. He wouldn't say a couple if there were three.
  13. I just stumbled across this interesting exploration of some of Williams sketches for The Empire Strikes Back - Yoda's Theme, The Imperial March, and The Snow Battle
  14. That was the most well done ever in the whole history of this site! It had me fooled for about 30 seconds! And I thought I was immune!
  15. You have a lot of wonderful music to discover! His score and suite (recorded by the LSO) from the movie Departures is one of my favorites. I've always wanted to see him live in concert... one day!
  16. Thanks for your thought!. I think I'm just comparing it to the London 1998 concerts I attended and other orchestral concerts. Apart from some evil people coughing, there was audience silence at the start of every piece (as far as I can remember)... And I remember watching performance of Jaws that started with audience laughter. I never got that! And I'm prone to the same laughing and yelling at other concerts - Queen for example!
  17. Was that audience laughter annoying to anyone attending? I don't get the urge to laugh - smile and be happy inside sure, but not laugh out loud while music is being performed? Or am I just being jealous and grumpy?
  18. I read that last year - I had totally forgotten the Nomad! Pretty trippy book!
  19. It's always been my favorite of his concertos/concerti. The last movement - there are moments in it that I think are among the most beautiful passages he's ever written. Sublime!
  20. Yeah, there were a few STNG episode about anomilies, but most seasons of Discovery were based around a spacial anomoly. I just felt it got old by season 4
