filmmusic 1,829
As long as the aspect ratio refit on The X-Files isn't as bad as the fuck up they did on Buffy, it won't be a problem.well, as you see herehttp://observationdeck.kinja.com/x-files-remastered-in-hd-but-only-for-the-germans-1594416977the 4:3 has more information on top and bottom, the widescreen crops that, and has more information on the sides.Take your pick. Kendal_Ozzel 36
The first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is down to a much more reasonable price of $25 on Amazon now.
Quintus 5,399
Hopefully someone here can help me, but today I was at the supermarket when I happened to notice a dvd cover of a movie which I thought looked good and I made a mental note at the time with the intention of googling it when I got home, but I've gone and forgotten it. It looked to be a relatively unknown 2014-15 haunted house movie with a picture of what looked like a large American country house on the cover, in a sort of grey and dark art/photo. Creepy looking. It may not even be a horror but possibly a psychological thriller instead, but the cover art certainly made it look like a spooky film. It stood out because it had critical plaudits on the case including film festival awards. It made me want to research it, because I'd never heard of it before, so maybe it's a bit of an under the radar gem. Any ideas?

Quintus 5,399
Not The Conjuring, no. I've seen that, it's pretty well known. The movie I'm talking about isn't. The box art was much darker than that one.Amongst the critical plaudits on the cover I think it had a loose reference to The Cabin in the Woods. A. A. Ron 1,742
Love the packaging! This was briefly for sale over at FOX Connect for $225, was taken down and is now back up for sale at $150. There's some speculation that this price is to coincide with the premiere of the first new episode at some convention in New York, in which case, it may be a while before it gets this cheap again. As for me, ordered! Jay 37,368
I feel like the old me would have wanted to buy this, but frankly I can just click a few buttons on my remote and watch every episode in HD via Netflix, so I don't think I'll bother. A. A. Ron 1,742
I thought Netflix only had the first 8 or so episodes in HD. At the least, those are the only ones they have the new widescreen versions of (outside of seasons 5-9 which were widescreen to begin with). Jay 37,368
Of what, the X Files? I have no idea why you thought that. The entries series is in HD.We're at the halfway point of season 2, and it all looks great so far.Actually, there are occasionally shots done on video instead of film that stand out because they don't look as good, but they are rare. nightscape94 965
I had no issues with the expanded aspect ratio, they did a great job with it. The extra slot(s) can probably be used for the Fight the Future blu-ray as well. Weird that it's not included in the US set since it's vital to the storytelling. The Australian release of this collector's edition actually does contain the two movies. Strange. filmmusic 1,829
First Home Alone, now this. Why is yellow tone now becoming a trend in remastering?I had started a thread about this at bluray.comYes, it seems it's a trend. Some other examples:http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/134422http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/134421http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/134443here, I just applied a simple auto color in photoshop, and look how the yellow tinted 4K restored Bluray became:http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/136316Some people insist that this yellow tint, is how the films looked originally, and all previous releases are wrong, due to the limitations of the medium (VHS, DVD).But, I personally am not convinced.I don't know but in all these yellow restorations, the faces look so sickly to me.It's the color I have when I'm ill and think I'm gonna throw up..I still have doubts, if this was the original intent of all the directors in all these films that were 4K restored for Bluray.Of course, the other explanation is that they changed their mind since the initial release of a film, and just follow the restoration trends now and "play" with the tools they have at their disposal, making color "corrections" etc.

filmmusic 1,829
As I've read, this "new" restoration is not new! It's the one that was used in the previous 45th anniversary Bluray! And yes, it's good since the colors weren't altered by the addition of a yellow tint like all the latest 4K restored Blurays!
