So, do you like the melody better in Hook or AotC?

I'm sure this has been done before, but hey, it's still a valid question.

I have to go with AotC, perhaps because I heard it first. It always sounds like a more natural setting, and I love the way it compliments and is complimented by the secondary theme in Across the Stars.

So, what do you think? Which is better?

I like Across The Stars better, but as a whole score, Hook is better.

Agreed. I certainly like the Hook score better, but like that certain theme usage better in AotC.

Hook (because I've never heard the other!) :o

Wow, that is incredible! You know the Indy scores very well, yet you have never heard "Across the Stars"? You really should give it a listen.

I'm going to sound really dumb here, but is it Star Wars?

Yes. And I agree, it's worth listening to, although it's certainly not the first place to start with SW (which you should do as a JW fan).

Hey I don't have to be interested in everything the man does! :o

I'll have to see about watching the Star Wars films sometime, then I may like the music more.....

"Flight To Neverland" film version > anything in AOTC. So Hook all the way.

That's...not the question.

John- who loves Across the Stars and votes Across the Starts. So there.

Oh...

Superman- The Movie

Just so he doesn't have to. :o

Actually, it's refreshing to find someone else here who hasn't watched every movie on the planet nor heard every score on the planet ;)

Haha :o Yeah, Maxxie, congratulations for not being such a g33k as the rest (or at least the majority, not to offend anybody) of us! :o

Hey, thanks; a compliment! :D

If you're a Williams fan being unfamilar with the Star Wars scores is not something to be proud of. It's a serious situation that should be immediately rectified.

I sincerely hope you speak in jest!

Hmmm....mostly, I suppose. But they're definately part of the pinnacle of not just Williams' career but film scores in general, no fan should be without them.

Yeah I understand what you're saying. :D

It's just I get sick of hearing about Star Wars. Star Wars this, Star Wars that. ;) There are many good scores out there that are just as good (and not just by JW!) :D

I'll have to watch them sometime. How many is there, and which ones are the best (both musically and in general)???

Six episodes, six scores. I'd start off with A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and then Phantom Menace.

Are they the first three?

No, these are just the 3 I think you should check out first.

Episode I - Phantom Menace

Episode II - Attack Of The Clones

Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith

Episode IV - A New Hope

Episode V - Empire Strikes Back

Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi

TPM, AOTC and ROTS are the prequels, right?

ANH, TESB and ROTJ are the 'sequels' as it were, but were actually the first ones made?

Which one/s have the best score then? Any opinions? ;)

Correct on both accounts.

As I said before, check out ANP, ESB, and TPM.

Cool, thanks guys. ;)

EDIT: Which soundtrack release/s is/are the best? I hear tell of some kind of box set kicking around, is this any good? Does it have the expanded scores?

For the "sequels" (as you described them), they have released practically complete Two-Disk sets that I think are essential a film score fan's library.

EDIT: If you liked this Indiana Jones Box Set, then you will almost certainly like these scores.

anything in Hook > anything in AOTC. So Hook all the way.

My thoughts exactly (sorry, Prez). ;)

Seriously, though.

No worries. I have a letter of resignation written, all it requires is your signature.

Seriously, no film score fan's collection is complete without at least the complete OT scores. I guess the best way to get them now would be the '04 Sony release, but if you can get the '97 RCA ones at a decent price get them. I enjoy the prequels just as much personally, but they're generally considered less essential.

Whatever you do, don't listen to Koray about the movie order :(

Either:

4. A New Hope

5. Empire Strikes Back

6. Return of the Jedi

1. Phantom Menace

2. Attack of the Clones

3. Revenge of the Sith

Or:

1. Phantom Menace

2. Attack of the Clones

3. Revenge of the Sith

4. A New Hope

5. The Empire Strikes Back

6. Return of the Jedi

Either way has merits. I don't think it matters which.

It matters. Watch the original trilogy first (Episodes IV-VI) then the prequels.
