What is the last video game you played?

As a developer, I'm highly sceptical of these game streaming services. But from what I've seen, Stadia has been getting mostly pretty good reviews (although I still don't see how it can possibly work well), so I'm surprised they're shutting it down already (even though it's Google).

Anybody here playing Shovel Knight Dig?

I love Steamworld Dig, but don't enjoy Roguelike/lites (or really any kind of "loot grinding" game), so I decided to pass.  It'd have been a lot cooler if it was Metroidvania style.

Well I finished FFVII remake. Pretty good game and like i said before pretty hard and you have to pay attention about your gear or you'll get a lot of game overs , on normal mode. My play through is 55 hours. Some bosses take over 30 minutes to beat because they're immune to everything . The final stretch of the games is several hours of continuous boss fights that seem to never end and that was kind of exhausting. Also they included some really hard racing sequences on motorcycles (harder than most of the game bosses). My main complaint is that it was too linear and some of the story didn't make any sense if you didn't play the original FFVII and some of it's associated games. ( I had to read a guide explaining the ending because there's some alternate universe and flash back stuff going on in a lot of the cut scenes and it gets confusing). Post-game is weirdly structured by choosing story chapters to re-play so I won't bother

They also didn't uglyfy the female characters to avert the male gaze for feminists or avoid triggering insecure people playing the game. So Tifa and Aerith still have attractive character models in the traditional JRPG way, not thicc like Aloy.

Game:8/10 (great)

Wokeness Level* (the less the better): 0/5 (excellent)

*This is a new separate criteria I add to all media I consume now that affects my global appreciation.

Meanwhile it's sunk in to me that Silksong won't be out this year since there's only 10 weeks left in it. Sadness.

What do the gamers of JWFan think about the RE4 remake coming out?

I still can't fathom why they didn't do Code Veronica first

They ported their big protected exclusive names to PC.

Uncharted 4's downloading now and Spiderman's on the shortlist too.

Oh, so you don't have a Playstation 4 or 5, but you do have a PC that is capable of playing these games.  I get it.

Wait, what? The Naughty Dog titles are no longer PS exclusive?

Wow. I'll grant that at least from me, the exclusivity deal got Sony more sales, because those were the main reason for me buying a PS4 in the first place. But I'm 100% for cross platform games, so this is great news…

…AND they're already Steam Deck verified!

Company-wide framework switch at CD Projekt Red then? The Cyberpunk sequel is also expected to use the Unreal Engine. Perhaps all the crunch surrounding the release (and post release debacle) of Cyberpunk 2077 was too much to keep the in-house engine maintainable?

It was too expensive for them. I think part of the reason for the game being a buggy mess was that they went out of their way to use an in house engine and on top of having to create a massive world to explore and all that comes with it, they had to spend time learning a new engine. It's just easier to use Unreal. Almost anyone they hire will already have experience using it already, and there's also the value of when you have a problem trying to make something, you can call up almost anyone else for advice, including Epic themselves.

Unnecessary. RE4 is the first in the series to hold up REALLY well. I'd argue it holds up better than 5, what with 5 being a more action oriented game and all.

Depends on what they want to do and what the engine does.

Yes (if the support is good enough, which I would imagine in this case it is). And if the engine ultimately can do what you want (which in this case should be true for most things). On the other hand, with an in-house engine, if it doesn't behave as you want it to, you can "simply" fix it. There are arguments for and against it, especially if you already have your own engine. But I also know what crunch and tight schedules can do to the stability of a codebase, so the in-house engine may well have suffered while they got Cyberpunk relatively stable.

Finished! Never played any Uncharteds before, this was my first direct meeting with the franchise... and right after God of War, what struck me most was the shallowness. But it looked awesome, was acted (voice and animation) real well, and had lots of fun bits, the Madagascar car chase stands out to me especially.

Nice to see Final Fantasy XVI game developpers giving the middle finger to woke game journos. Another prime example that woke "gaming" sites like Kotaku ONLY care about "diversity and representation" and not the games themselves. With the changes happening at Twitter this week, hopefully artists can start making the projects they envision with less cancel culture interference .

https://kotaku.com/ffxvi-square-enix-naoki-yoshida-ff16-release-date-1849744847

(Let me be clear that my occasional rants against woke culture are NOT meant as political posts, but strictly on the aspect of artistic freedom and how this ideology sucks the fun out of all forms of entertainment media. Games developers should NEVER compromise to please activists and I'm happy the FFXVI team is standing up to them.)

Friends, I need help.

I saw an article for a game last week and I don't remember the name.

Basically, you play an astronaut who crashes on a planet, eventually dies, and then keeps crashing on a different random planet. I think your character is a woman. It's not No Man's Sky.

I think it's a Playstation # game that is ported to PC. Maybe it starts with S? I can't remember.

Well, pity then they announced and released the game within less than half a year. Should have gone into one year of crunch at the end. ;)
