The problem really isnt that he liked MLP. Hey we all have our unusual things we like. Lee takes the piss out of me for liking Doctor Who.

We are all geeks here. And we all like to make fun of each others different little obsessions. But Basil spends far too much time trying to defend himself. Those extremely long posts explaining why its OK to like MLP don't work. Far easier to say.

"Hey, I love the show, I'm sorry you dont. Get over it!"

In the end of the day it's just another TV show. Like Star Trek, Who, Sherlock, GoT.

Indeed. The problem was never that he liked the show. It was the insulting, accusatory manner in which he reproached everyone about his interests. I stayed out of it, but the need to justify it with articles, video clips, and the opinions of others was entirely unnecessary and instead exposed more of his insecurity about the matter. If you like the show, then good for you and justify it with your OWN opinions. Why should someone else take you seriously if you can't defend yourself and rely on others' opinions to "protect" yours? I have no problem with a guy liking MLP or any other show like that. The issue was with how he expressed his thoughts.

Seems like Lucas has a serious case of Asperger's.

Obsessive and narrow interest? Check.

Zero irony or sense of humour? Check.

Excessively formal way of communicating with others (i.e. citing articles or videos like he's writing a term paper)? Check.

Lack of 'theory of mind' (unable to see this situation from another's perspective)? Check.

and etc.

I can seriously say I've had my first good laugh of the day. I laughed out loud when I read Mike Matessino's post. Although it wasn't cool when he singled out Jason since he didn't do anything wrong.
I mean I know that Lucas has issues (who doesn't have issues?) but damn this takes the cake...

Likewise.
I like TMNT, Voltron, Thundercats and other shit like that, hell even Power Rangers but do I think if others find me weird or not that I do? Hell no! It's what I like, if others don't like it, hey it's the internet that's what the "ignore" function is for.

Well, saying you listen to film music in some crowds might have people think your weird too

My friends think that I'm weird for liking this music and have since I've known them nearly all of my life, lmao.

I've got asperger's but more of a mild case.

Mike Matessino's post? What post are you talking about?

I think Trent means Mstrox

This. That's Mike M.

Edit: MY MISTAKE! Sorry Steef is right, carry on!

No it isn't. Mike Matessino's FSM screen name is "mxmx"

Guess my edit didn't get in on time ...sorry my fault then. My humble apologizes.

I am mstrox, but I have no problem taking credit for anything Mike Matessino does.

Who is this Lucas fellow and what happened that Stefan called him a kiddy feeler? I'm a bit lost.

Lucas Sestak is a Canadian film score fan who posts as "Basil" on this forum, and both "BasilFSM" and "Senn555" on FSM. The main post of this thread links to Lucas's FSM post, which links to the JWFan thread where the whole thing started.

Just read a bit. In Stefan's defence, he only said "brony = paedo". "Paedo" is an Ancient Greek word for "child". Sounds like Basil saw the word and immediately thought of the word "paedophile", which in the modern context means an adult that is sexually attracted to children.

Technically, Stefan made no such accusation towards Basil. I don't know what brony is though, but it appears he meant that brony is for children.

I didn't know what a brony was until this thread popped up. Now I assume brony = fan of MLP.

LOL.

I don't think he'd like that very much. :P

A brony is a male fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

The S is for Sestak, and now you know my secret identity.

I like that they don't do sarcasm the best

They're a natural talent at wordplay. Even when they don't necessarily realise it.

Just want to say I've got nothing against peeps with Asperger's or ASD in general; my mum's an autism specialist. It's just the few posters with severe Asperger's I've encountered online have been utter nightmares to handle - one has had to constantly walk on eggshells with them.

Ah good to know. BTW I think Lucas just made your point...he's back. Some people don't know when to let things go.

Sorry Stef, I read his "retaliation post" in a bad mood and kind of snapped back in your defense. I didn't mean to get involved in this stupid situation, but some people just need to grow up.

In retrospect, that was probably a very bad idea...
