QMM 4 Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 It's the getting near the end of the year again, time for reflection. The April Fool's fiasco comes to mind for meand while it's not necessarily JWfan, the passing of Jerry Goldsmith obviously a tragic moment this yearMax
Lurker 5 Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 Getting drunk and staying up late with fellow members in Boston is the highlight for me.Neil
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 You actually got drunk? And Ren, did she get drunk too?Stefancos- who's highlight for 2004 was being called by Neil, Ren and Ray on his Birthday. And the lowpoint, I think we can all take a guess.....
Lurker 5 Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 I was certainly very, very buzzed. Vodka and tonics will do that to you.Neil
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 Vodka Martini, Neil's shaken up a bit, but not stirred.
Justin 2 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 My high point was reading about you guys gettin' piss drunk.Good times....good times....Justin
Ray Barnsbury 8 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 My highlight was laughing with Kevin at drunk Ren and Neil in Boston. Oh, and not being left behind when I got carded. Ray Barnsbury
stewdog1 50 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 My highlight probably has to be all the love the Vangelis gets on this site.
Morlock 12 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 So your highlight is basicaly any post by you? Talk about ego-centric....
stewdog1 50 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 So your highlight is basicaly any post by you? Talk about ego-centric.... Â I want to say something witty and amusing here, but the words just aren't coming to me.
John Crichton 4 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 I think you're a smeghead for posting this.
stewdog1 50 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 I think you're a smeghead for posting this.Who are you talking to? :?
Ray Barnsbury 8 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Some very memorable times for me were the internet broadcasts of CoS and PoA. All the speculation and actual worthwhile discussions . . . *sigh*Ray Barnsbury
stewdog1 50 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 The Eyes! The Eyes! And I'm not talking about my avatar.
John Crichton 4 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 I think you're a smeghead for posting this.Who are you talking to? :?Anyone and no one. Just a spin on a memorable moment from this year. I agree with Ray, the post-PoA frenzy was perhaps the most fun time of the year for those of us who didn't go to Boston. Unfortunately, this year will be more remembered for all the big name deaths we suffered this year, and to a lesser extent the GoF announcement and aftermath.
Saxbabe 28 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 On a happier note, the "Engage" thread with the details of Ren's and JohnnyEcks's engagements was memorable and heartwarming to hear about.I just became a member this summer and have gotten a kick out of the board antics, unique community, and personalities here.Remember the Great Board Exodus? LOL That was about the time I joined I believe...I really have enjoyed the score analyses, for the first time, I went into an HP movie prepared for what to listen for, and it so enhanced the listening experience. And I discovered the wonderful world of unreleased music here...and scores by many composers I hadn't delved into before.
John Crichton 4 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 And who could ever forget this:Images that will live forever.
Lurker 5 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Remember the Great Board Exodus? Â LOL Â That was about the time I joined I believe...I prefer to forget about that....especially when the majority of people who said they were leaving came back. Another great moment this year was....Neil
Ray Barnsbury 8 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 The Great Geisha Wars were a troublesome time here . . . rifts were created and deepened within the heart of the JWFan community, spurred by the announcements of JW's leaving the Potter series and taking on Geisha, possibly in its stead.Ray Barnsbury
Hlao-roo 390 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 The debut of the dancing lock was the greatest thing ever to happen at JWFAN.NET.
pixie_twinkle 60 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 My little thread on "Changes to Star Wars on DVD" becoming one of the biggest threads of the year was pretty nice. Ok so I contributed all of 4 posts to it, but I started it!!!! Nice ego boost there.I also enjoyed that soundtracks quiz that someone posted a link for. I never even got CLOSE to the leaderboard, but I had fun trying.

King Mark 3,975 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 The Great Geisha Wars have only begun.I'm afraid after WotW there will be The Great Message Board Desertion, with only Alexcremmers and Morlock staying around to discuss future Williams "mature" projects.K.M.

King Mark 3,975 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 The best MB days is when you get to hear an unexpected new piece of JW music..or even a few seconds of it...like today.the worst day is when we all tuned in for the Horn Concerto and got Stochakovitch instead.K.M.

Soon you and the grey masses that stand behind you will be all but extinct.
Josh500 1,620 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 What happened at the April Fool's fiasco???
Saxbabe 28 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Yes, April Fools, do tell!! I joined a couple of months after that.

Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 What happened at the April Fool's fiasco??? Â Â The boards got closed, and JWFan was going to be turned into a pay site. That was the joke. Let me repeat that for you.The boards got closed, and JWFan was going to be turned into a pay site.- Marc,
Docteur Qui 1,581 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 I thought it was hilarious. Then again I knew it was a joke almost straight away. I couldn't see how anyone could have found it serious. However it took me a few seconds to realize the date, but then I thought "how coincidental that this happens on April 1st". It was possibly as obvious as last year's, which was the "rumour" that Ep III and Indy 4 would share the same score. That said, they were very clever jokes and obviously fooled some people.
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Well, obviously it was a joke, but closing the boards?!? WTF?!?
Justin 2 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Joe and his piggish disgusting post about Patrick Doyle's death. And of course all the hidden political threads right after the election. The legacy of the "What's The Last Film You've Watched Thread" which is now, I believe, the boards longest thread. The Posting Wars I - Morn Vs. StefancosThe Posting Wars II - King Mark Vs. MorlockJustin - Who's done nothing memorable.
Lurker 5 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 You can view the April Fools Forum here.Neil

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 the worst day is when we all tuned in for the Horn Concerto and got Stochakovitch instead.K.M.Indeed a highly memorable moment, for all the wrong reasons.
Weebo 0 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Don't mention Weebo! I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.Hi! I didn't realize I was a memorable moment in 2004. I'll keep up the good work. Thanks for the recognition! Your CDs are in the mail!Weebo - Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (Creation of Darth Vader - 1st draft)
stewdog1 50 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Welcome back Weebo. I think I may have gotten my CD, but the neighbor stole it.Let me know what you want for that Episode III music.

Greg1138 3 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Memorable moment?Well - I ain't been around for too long, and sounds like I missed a good'un with the April 1st stuff, but for me the one single event that turned this message board into more of an endearing family was the fabulous anouncement about Ren...

HPFAN_2 0 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 The most memorable thing for me was when JW left the hp series.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,388 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 I still can't care about that one way or another.
fommes 165 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Welcome back Weebo. You asked for this!Wow, that's uncanny. I just mentioned your devilish eyes in the other thread. I had no idea you had undone your glasses!
