Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,261 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I tried to make a frowny face out of frowny faces but failed.
Will 2,353 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Apparently they just showed something! Can't find an online clip yet, though. I'll watch it tomorrow morning.
mrbellamy 7,444 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 It was about 30 seconds of Finn and Rey running on Jakku and yes, there was new music
Balahkay 629 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Horrible quality, but I guess this is it...
Director of Poltergeist 8,207 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 That would seem to be Williams? At long fucking last? Sounds like his modern chaotic action music.
Balahkay 629 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I'm really liking what I hear. Since this is a completed scene from the film, it's highly likely this is Williams music.
mrbellamy 7,444 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 High quality:Admin note: The film clip begins at 0:18
Jay 42,889 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Well that was too short to get much of an idea of anything SafeUnderHill 1
mrbellamy 7,444 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Yeah. I like the playfulness of it, though. That little bit almost reminds me more of Indy than Star Wars.
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,261 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Now that sounds familiar, finally. Cerebral Cortex 1
Red 75 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 The word that comes to mind is fun. That is a very good thing.

Lewya 361 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Yeah, sounds quite KOTCS esque. I like the mix in the clip! SafeUnderHill 1
indy4 159 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Wow sounds really good from what we can hear
Cerebral Cortex 3,362 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Now that's what I'm talking about. Love the energy.
Not Mr. Big 4,831 Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 I hear a lot of Indy 4 in there, not that it's inherently a bad thing. Also could be Finn's theme.
crumbs 15,533 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I'm actually hearing a bit of NcNeely's Shadows of the Empire, specifically the brass from Xixor's Palace. Not hearing the Indy 4 comparisons at all.He never really took the brass to these high notes for prolonged moments in the prequels, so here's hoping he has some soaring high strings writing as well. That was always a hallmark of his work in the OT.
Not Mr. Big 4,831 Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 Now that you mention it, I hear that too.
BloodBoal 7,544 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Also could be Finn's theme. So much for people claiming they'll wait until they watch the movie to listen to any bit from the score... crumbs 1
TheUlyssesian 2,596 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 The music seems burried under the sound effects. I could listen to the music only in the music only embed above.
Little Ghost 7,938 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Also could be Finn's theme. So much for people claiming they'll wait until they watch the movie to listen to any bit from the score...Technically he did watch the movie The music seems burried under the sound effects. I could listen to the music only in the music only embed above.Uh.... You need to check your ears methinks.
Lady Dimitrescu 10,026 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Generic modern Williams action underscore. Next! Ricard 1
Not Mr. Big 4,831 Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 I prefer generic modern Williams to generic "classic" Williams. Now that stuff is boring. Also could be Finn's theme. So much for people claiming they'll wait until they watch the movie to listen to any bit from the score...I never said I wouldn't listen to short officially released bits of score. Just gigantic entire-album leaks.
Lady Dimitrescu 10,026 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 So you call his newer stuff "generic", which means you admit you think it's boring!
Not Mr. Big 4,831 Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 So you call his newer stuff "generic", which means you admit you think it's boring! No. Cerebral Cortex 1
Taikomochi 1,335 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I know that video through my earbuds won't sound the same as the audio mix does in the theater, but I am damn pleased with how loudly the music is mixed in that clip. Xinau 1
BloodBoal 7,544 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I never said I wouldn't listen to short officially released bits of score. Just gigantic entire-album leaks.Sure! They're holding it back. We haven't heard shit.Yeah, but that's a good thing in my book. I'd rather hear the score first in one sitting than have it drip-fed to me over time through multiple batches of audio samples, music videos, and 30 minute previews.
Not Mr. Big 4,831 Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 That was an entire month ago!
Popular Post crumbs 15,533 Posted November 23, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 23, 2015 If this were a Ben Burtt mix, the sound of sand bouncing off BB8 and the footsteps of our main characters would be mixed louder than the music. Will Tasker, Jacck and Xinau 3
Taikomochi 1,335 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 If this were a Ben Burtt mix, the sound of sand bouncing off BB8 and the footsteps of our main characters would be mixed louder than the music.Exactly! It was dialogue, music, then sound effects. I hope that is what the film is like in the theater. crumbs 1
crumbs 15,533 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I have this strange feeling about JJ's mixing of this music. An unfamiliar feeling... um... optimism?
Lady Dimitrescu 10,026 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 The music is the least important element. People want to hear those explosions rock the subwoofers in their multiplex cinema.
BloodBoal 7,544 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I have this strange feeling about JJ's mixing of this music. An unfamiliar feeling... um... optimism?"I have a good feeling about this!"
Not Mr. Big 4,831 Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 I have this strange feeling about JJ's mixing of this music. An unfamiliar feeling... um... optimism? What's that?
BloodBoal 7,544 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Something that will be crushed in a month. Will Tasker 1
Alex 2,939 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 The rhythm kinda reminds me of Jango's Escape
crumbs 15,533 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Jango's Escape has no rhythm! It's just a brain fart of improvised xylophone hits with no discernible pattern. mbrannon47 1
Popular Post Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,261 Posted November 23, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 23, 2015 That's a great cue. Why does everyone hate it? Taikomochi, Not Mr. Big and Will Tasker 3
crumbs 15,533 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Nobody likes xylophones. Unless you're 3.
