  1. If nothing happens within the next couple of weeks to coincide with the start of the new series, I think we're looking at either a release in the late Autumn (i.e. some time after the series finishes) or the same timing as series 10 (so, forget it). There's more quotes from Gold here: In answer to his last part, if an album was sitting on his agent's server and hackers got it, and everyone was excited.... I completely fail to see what the problem is! The album has been made and is sitting on his agent's server.... how about you release it, Murray? You don't need some massive multi-billion dollar marketing compaign requiring an album to be completed months in advance to press CDs. Drop it digitally, ask Silva to send out an e-mail and watch the fans swarm. The fact that people wanted to resort to hacking indicates how much they wanted to buy it! FFS.
  2. I saw the movie years ago and don't remember anything particularly distrating, but I picked up the album that someone put out and long term it's largely failed to maintain my interest outside of the great main theme.
  3. I'd agree actually - I find many golden age scores far too overbearing in context for my tastes - a huge orchestral overture or crescendo when not an awful lot is happening on screen. I found that with a few clips of The Godfather and with many dialogue clips from the 50s/60s - the music feels like it's doing too much in the scene. Partly taste, partly changing musical fashions.
  4. Tbh I'm not sure which 'sources' I'd prefer were correct. If Erik's right, it means that someone is either misinterpreting or just making up negative notes from Williams. If he's not, then Williams has made the occasional comment about another composer's choices regarding his material and someone's decided the world must be told. Either way someone out there thinks that any real or perceived creative ills against his higness must be front page news. How pathetic.
  5. I agree with all of that regarding why it was a bad tenure, but it would remain true even with another male actor. Whittaker is witty and fun when given good scripts. Nope, its death knell was Chib.
  6. Interesting... you have to wonder where rumours like that come from. Several I've heard revolve around Williams being unhappy about material produced by someone else - they have the whiff of a fan trying to manufacture sympathy for their idol.
  7. I have no idea whatsoever what the plot of Flux was.
  8. DoD and CMIYC The former is such a lack of fresh ideas and reuse. The latter prevented him completing CoS properly.
  9. Fair enough - the original statement goes under 'popular opinions'. I'd counter with the 'unpopular opinion' that the statement is just fan validation.
  10. Very unbalanced assessment there. Gia had to score R1 in a last minute replacement rush with obviously clear directives and limitations from Williams, and Powell's score has been overwhelmingly positively received across the board, apart perhaps from some who don't like his use of synth percussion. From a film perspective no one else has had the opportunity to write for SW, so in fact that's an extremely limited indication that nobody can outwrite Williams for SW.
  11. I wouldn't mind so much if they were encapsulated in interesting stories but they just weren't. Oddly, the one where Chib shouted at the audience for buying plastic DW merch and destroying the planet has what I thought was one of the more interesting stories/monsters. Whatever the story was with the mental health one, I can't remember which means it wasn't strong. Of Whittaker's last episodes I really liked the one in the storage place, and guess what, no messages. But Flux also had no messages that I can remember and that was one of the dullest sections of DW I've ever seen.
  12. The messages became problematic in Chib's era when they started to completely dictate the stories, i.e. that one about mental health, where I can't even begin to remember what happened in the episode. He forgot Who is meant to be fun and exciting. If they're ingredients in an otherwise interesting and fun story, go for it.
  13. I think your last point is key. IMO the only thing a label like them has to do is high quality audio. Attractive packaging is nice to have and highly subjective in its quality and expectations.
