I know which one I am!
My next releases are Kamen's "The Iron Giant" then Arnold's "Independence Day". I'm going to be a busy boy for a little while!

ricsim88 got a reaction from SteveMc in Krull full orchestral score
Neumation music has just announced that their next full score will be Horner’s Krull. Pretty exciting.
Definitely going to pick that one up. It was supposed to be Poltergeist, so hopefully it’s just delayed, and not canceled.

Wow that’s really cool! I had never even heard of Neumation Music until you pointed this out. Great to see that there’s now a few publishers for full scores

ricsim88 reacted to Thor in Fanfare for Prince Philip (John Williams)
As a tribute to the late prince, who passed away today at age 99(!), let's listen again to John Williams' piece for him -- later renamed "Aloft....To the Royal Masthead":

ricsim88 reacted to Jay in Gordy Haab's Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2017)
If people like these scores they should definitely support Gordy and the whole process buy legally buying them instead of just continuing to listen to the Soundcloud versions or gamerips

ricsim88 reacted to Jay in THE ORVILLE - Music Discussion (Bruce Broughton, Joel McNeely, John Debney, Andrew Cottee, Kevin Kaska)
Today I finally took the shrinkwrap off my Season 1 2CD set from La La Land! (Previously I had only been listening to these scores via Spotify!)
Boy was it a pleasure to listen to these scores again ahead of the Season 2 OST release, and hopefully Season 3 some time this year
I love how each episode suite often has its own main theme, and they are often so catchy and good!
Score by Score on the set
Old Wounds (Broughton) - still my least favorite score other than Cottee's. I love the main theme of course - it's great! - but I don't really find that Broughton did too much exciting stuff in the pilot itself otherwise. Sorry, Broughton fans!
If The Stars Should Appear (McNeely) - A highlight of the set, with perhaps the best and most earworm-y main episode theme. I love it! Exciting orchestrations too, the suite takes you on a real journey. Love the grand piano in track 9, and the appearance of the Ludlow motif and Return of the Jedi reference too. Really nice renditions of the main Orville theme in track 10, especially when it and the main Orville theme and main episode theme play off each other towards the end. Aces!
Command Performance (Debney) - Huh. The back of the CD says "Performances" instead of "Performance". Never noticed that before. The inside of the booklet, La La Land's website and the press release use "Performance", though it's still "Performances" on the warm butter site too so I guess fixed versions were never made. Oh well. Anyways, this is a rather unassuming score, nothing too remarkable about outside of track 12's cool Goldsmith Star Trek vibes and Horner Danger Motif cameos, IMO
About A Girl (McNeely) - The return of fun orchestrations, love the funkyness in tracks 14 and 17! Outside of those fun passages, another somewhat unassuming score.
Pria (Debney) - I love this, one of the more exciting scores, just has an awesome momentum of action music pushing forward the whole time, some of the best and most exciting action music on the set! Track 21 reminds me of Giacchino's Medal of Honor, though I suspect both are referencing something I'm not familiar with. Track 22 "Pria's Theme" is a nice capper after the action onslaught. Was this recorded just for this album or does it appear in the episode?
Krill (McNeely) - One of the more satisfying scores on the set because it's so well-rounded, featuring a nice array of action music, mystery music, suspense music, emotional music, etc. Sort of an abrupt ending, but that's OK.
Onward to disc 2!

ricsim88 reacted to Jay in Most frustrating release: UE Phantom Menace vs. 2012 LaLa Land Hook
Out of all the Williams scores that received some sort of expansion already (not counting FYCs), the ones I'd most want to be revisited for a new definitive edition would be
1) Last Crusade
2)Temple of Doom
3) Phantom Menace
4) Hook
5) Return of the Jedi
6) Empire Strikes Back
7) Raiders
8) Star Wars

ricsim88 reacted to Jay in Most frustrating release: UE Phantom Menace vs. 2012 LaLa Land Hook
Phantom Menace is way more frustrating AINEC
It's full of awful sounding film edits, loops, and tracking - plus several highlights of the score that Lucas happened to not use in the film are simply missing
Hook is sloppy and inconsistent in sound quality, but at least everything other than a few spots come from unedited original session recordings - and every major narrative beat of the score is there (barring the triumphant version of the Lost Boys theme recorded for the aftermath Hook's death). You can at least change the track order to get a pretty satisfying journey though the score, despite the abrupt change in sound quality for the second half of the Ultimate War of course.
Both scores deserve better versions to made, certainly, but one is in way worse shape than the other for the time being
