No doubt because of preservatives in mince pies, I dreamed I had a video on my phone in which JW explains how a phone works a couple of hours ago.

One of my favorite JNH moments, the cathartic Breakout from Dinosaur, starts at 1:09.

I know, right? I don't care if this is just an old bag of typical Hornerisms, they remain as effective as ever in moving me.

Some of my most beloved Horner moments of all time:

0:31 to 1:08. Horner takes the Deep Impact theme and make it sound very happy and nostalgic. It's kinda like it was describing a happy moment you're enjoying with your loved ones but also adding some hints of sadness and nostalgia that all of these moments will become just memories in the future.

Speaking of Deep Impact, there's two moments in the final track that are simply amazing. First the crescendo that starts on 4:21 and explodes on 4:40:

During the end credits, the variation on the main theme for children's choir and orchestra that starts on 7:07 and goes until 7:35 is so positive, so life-affirming, so filled with joy and hope... I love it.

I agree 100%.  I think the excellence of Avengers 3/4 made it seem like the 20 preceding standalone movies were some masterclass in plotting, but they were just as disparate as the stuff that’s come after.  With the most charismatic actors/characters off the table after Endgame, they essentially needed to catch lightning in a bottle for a second time.  And the “need” to cram SO MUCH STUFF in the -only four- years since Endgame certainly didn’t help.

I mean, John Williams may think that the best way to appreciate his scores for Return of the Jedi and Temple of Doom outside of the movies are the atrocious 80s OSTs with 40 minutes of music, but I completely disagree with him.

Too bad Disney thinks he's right.

Edmilson got a reaction from Yavar Moradi in The DCU - DC Universe
The post-credits scene for Aquajoke Aquaman 2 has leaked and spoilers: it's a mind blowing scene that sets up a sprawling Crisis on Infinite Earths four part epic featuring every actor from the DCEU (including Cavill, Affleck, Gadot, Fisher, Momoa and Miller) and from James Gunn's DCU (like the new Superman and the next Batman, who hasn't even been announced yet), plus Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern, Christian Bale's, George Clooney's and Michael Keaton's Batman, Chris O' Donnell and Alicia Silverstone as Robin and Batgirl, Brandon Routh's and Tom Welling's Superman, Halle Berry's Catwoman, Josh Brolin's Jonah Hex, Shaquille O'Neal's Steel, everyone from the CW shows and an AI recreation of Christopher Reeve's Superman.

All of that directed by the one and only Martin Scorsese, who after binging literally every Marvel/DC movie ever produced, from the 1940s serials all the way up to The Marvels, overcame his hatred and contempt for the superhero genre. "I was so so wrong. A superhero movie can be as deep and philosophically and thematically complex as any movie from Ozu, Kiarostami, Godard, Antonioni, Fellini and Kurosawa. I feel like my career won't be complete until I direct something at least half as good as Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok", he said.

Ah, people trying to change Thor's mind on how he appreciates and listens to film scores. I can set my watch by it.

I love an expanded film score, me. But there are times when the album is the way to go. Except when it isn't.

I love how this score does rely on some of that Sabrina sound (Finale especially) for some scenes Helena is in. Makes me wonder if JW wants to do another romance film at some point.

For us 90s and 2000s kids, the most insane part is that, if this happens, it'll be the merging between Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.

It could lead to some cool crossovers:
Cow & Chicken and SpongeBob Squarepants;  Dexter's Laboratory and Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius;  Courage the Cowardly Dog and Ren & Stimpy;  Ed, Edd and Eddy and Hey Arnold!;  Mr. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The Fairly Odd Parents;  The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Invader Zim; The PowerPuff Girls and My Life as a Teenage Robot; Adventure Time and Avatar: The Last Airbender; Ben 10 and Danny Phantom; We Bare Bears and The Penguins of Madagascar; And for the grown-ups: Rick and Morty and South Park
Of course, these days neither Warner nor Paramount care about their classic nor current cartoons. But that would be cool.

I don't care about the haters, this is one of my top 10 Horner scores ever. I love the string motif that begins the score, it's even better and more evocative here than in Braveheart. Its first appearance on the beginning of the score is mesmerizing, and then every time it reoccurs is impactful. There's some suspense material, but the final three tracks (Betrayal, Danilov's Confession and Tanya - End Credits) are about 25 minutes of some of the most epic, dramatic and emotional Horner material ever.

The final track in particular might be my single favorite Horner End Credits suite ever, alongside Braveheart. Seriously, I'd be open to learning how to be a maestro only to conduct this piece for orchestra and choir. I don't know how to read music, but I can do it like Cruise conducting the M: I theme though, just teach me what moves with my arms I'm supposed to make, lol.

I'm thankful Horner didn't bring Will Jennings and some pop musician to write another corny end titles song based on his theme for this though.

What I love about Thomas Newman is that he is a master of knowing exactly what to do to extract the biggest amount of emotion of the listener.

This cue is an absolute masterpiece of that: it starts with the "Brooks Was Here" theme just for piano and synths and then at 1:50 the audience is surprised with some deeply moving and emotional strings. The Brooks Was Here melody continues but it gets a pensive oboe at 2:47 that climaxes with some of the most touching string writing ever written for any movie.

A masterful cue for a masterful score written for a masterful movie.

ROTS is Williams at his most Shore and the wailing woman of Munich is Williams at his most Zimmer.

Yeah, this is accurate. I forgot the original album was quite that long. But I do think with film versions and other alternates I wouldn’t be surprised if an expanded edition came close to filling a whole second disc.
