I thought this was fun, if anyone wants to catch a glimpse of what could have been.

I can now share my covers for the new recordiing of Herrmann's scores by Intrada.
I have to say, I wasn't allowed to use any promotional material nor any cast member photo.

Actually, Alec Guinness said very clearly that he didn’t think Star Wars was any more than a fun, simple story, and that people would probably be inclined to read too much into it.
The actual quote is:

The quote in Rinzler's book:
And then in Rinzler's blog:
Lucas took a passage quoting himself from an interview in 1977, and ADDED "they have more midi-chlorians in their cells." That seems preety clear to me. That's not the only bending of the truth in Rinzler's book, either. For instance, Rinzler suggests that all the drafts of The Empire Strikes Back were titled "Episode V" since the typed version of the first draft had that, except elsewhere he suggests that that typed draft "with Joe Johnston and Ralph McQuarrie artwork" - Ralph having only joined the film after several drafts had been written, none of which bore the title "Episode V."
Then there's a passage where Rinzler quotes an extended passage from Lucas' notes saying that they "deal with the psychology of children" without clarifying that they are in fact extended passages taken from a December 1975 column of Bruno Bettelheim that Lucas read on The New Yorker. This in spite of the fact that a few lines later he's talking to Lucas about Bettelheim and, being unaware of this column (an extract from Bettleheim's later book) suggests that Lucas got an early copy of Bettelheim's 1977 book, which is a ridiculous notion.
Nor is it the only example of Lucas doctoring history: in 1979, Lucasfilm released a copy of the script to the original film, for all intents and purposes represented as the original script, except now it was titled "Episode IV A New Hope" (authetic drafts are titled "(Saga I) Star Wars"; it had been edited to match the final edit; the Jabba scene was added back, with an additional description that was never there before about how Jabba "is a fat, slug-like creature with eyes on extended feelers and a huge ugly mouth."
I also think this bit of Rinzler's book might be doctored:
because its eerily similar to this quote from 1977, obviously absent all the highflautin talk of The Golden Bough:

rough cut got a reaction from MrJosh in The Mandalorian SHOW discussion - Spoilers Allowed for all aired episodes
There are so many weird things in the show right now. The weird cameos (especially Lizzo and Jack Black… talk about being taken out of the story!) and the actors throwing a rubber puppet baby Yoda around pretending that it’s “real” (makes me chuckle and cringe equally).
I have no problem with multiple plot lines - if anything I think that’s a sign that the creators are aiming for something more mature - but I think the plot lines are hard to care about because the characters’ motivations aren’t clear. What have they set out to do? Why? What are the consequences if they fail?
Mando
I don’t even know what his MO is now? He’s not a bounty hunter anymore, that’s for sure. Just to raise Grogu, maybe, so he’s a full time dad?
Bo-Katan
She clearly wants to rule Mandalore, and a secondary goal is to unite the Mandalorians (?). But each time we see the Mandalorians, they all seem to be doing fine. There’s no suffering, no oppression, no forced labor or starvation. The group hanging out on Plazir all seemed to be in good shape and good spirits, they almost looked ready to have a bbq-party, so what exactly is the urgency?
The Coruscant plotline
I can’t even remember the names of the characters, but who exactly are we supposed to be rooting for? The guy who got brainwashed? The secret agent? Or is it just subtext for the sequel trilogy?

As a casual SW fan, my interest in the Filoniverse is very limited, despite having seen the whole of Rebels, 2 seasons of Mandalorian and a few Clone Wars episodes.

I saw S03E06. Not great, but I think I have to realize (again) that this isn’t made for me. I am a 40 year old man who loves sci-fi and movies, but there’s stuff out there with different target groups. Apart from S01, Mandalorian now reminds me of the shows that used to be on in the afternoon, aimed at teens coming back from school, just hanging out, waiting for mom to serve up dinner. And that’s fine. I can see that - for what it is - Mandalorian surely isn’t made without intent. And I will try to enjoy it for what it is.
I think the greatest obstacle the show has is it’s lack of a clear plot. As it is now it kind of rambles on aimlessly. I have a hard time caring for anything they do, or whether it matters if they succeed or not?
What is the goal of their actions? Why does it matter? What are the stakes here again?
I’d say Mandalorian has turned into a premium version of Xena The Princess Warrior rather than actual golden age television. It’s harmless, all filler over substance. Shiny but not much to dig into.
At least they didn’t say “This is the way” in this one, as I find that they use that saying a bit arbitrarily. And then they look at each other and nod. Ugh.

rough cut reacted to Edmilson in The DCU - DC Universe
Believe me, posts like those from the anti-comicbook gang who keep flooding the MCU and DCU threads whining about "sUpErHeRoEs ArE tHe DeAtH oF cInEmA aS aRt" only make me want to watch more Marvel and DC. Despite I haven't truly liked one of those since 2019, I still like to drink the salty tears from the haters.
So if you still care about the "Seventh art", instead of bitching in the internet go pay to see an independent movie at the theater. They really need your support.
The new Scorsese movie will receive a theatrical release despite being an Apple production, go watch that! It has everything the anti-comicbook gang loves: a cult director, Oscar-winning actors, an "important story", not a single CGI monster trying to destroy the world... And leave us superhero nerds alone.
Marvel and DC brought me more joy, happiness, friendship (not here) and treasured memories than any movie Scorsese would call art. So even despite their current crappiness, I'll always defend them from haters.
