Tallguy got a reaction from Cameron007 in enderdrag64's Star Wars Cue by Cue
It's very subtle and it's only on the complete recordings, not on the original discs. I forget if it's in the expanded film or not.

Tallguy reacted to The Train Station in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
I watched it so none of you would have to. Fans of the score, just go on imagining a better movie in your heads.

Tallguy got a reaction from darkspine10 in enderdrag64's Star Wars Cue by Cue
It was used in Sith. But that arrangement goes all the way back to 1977. It's on the Gerhardt album. It's on the Zubin Mehta recording. In the 80's it's on the Cincinnati Pops album Time Warp. It's the arrangement that's on the Skywalker Symphony. And (we haven't gotten to this part yet) all of them have the same ending as Return of the Jedi. (Which predates Jedi by six years but it's what I call it.)
Clearly it's Williams' preferred ending. At least back then the concert recordings of the Main Title used the film ending. Now if you hear Throne Room and Main Title in the same concert they will both have the Jedi ending. Booo!

Tallguy reacted to Yavar Moradi in James Horner's THE MASK OF ZORRO (1998) - 2023 2-CD Expanded Edition from La La Land Records, produced by Neil S. Bulk
I'd rather have Simon Franglen do what he did with Avatar: The Way of Water, which to me was absolutely fantastic. (I also think that The Magnificent Seven is totally underrated.)

Look at all of those TEETH.

Tallguy reacted to Edmilson in Christopher Young's "Nosferatu - A Symphony of Horror" CD
Okay, for the record I was joking. Boycotting a composer because he has an opinion I disagree with is just ridiculous, especially when it's someone as talented as Chris Young. I hoped the silly emojis I put would indicate that this is a shitpost and not something real, but apparently on the internet is way harder for people to understand when you're joking and when you're not.

Hey, you left off "Help me, Mike Matessino, you're my only hope."

So the following is from a conversation I had in DMs with @Tallguy regarding the film take of The Princess Appears; at his prompting, I'm posting it here, too.

Tallguy got a reaction from Gabriel Bezerra in Star Trek is better than everything
Since the first season of Star Trek.
Nobody does.

This is one of the strangest theories I have ever read. Invision in no way gives the tiniest crap what we do with their software and nobody there has any clue who we are. We're a tiny drop in their bucket
The no politics rule is pretty standard in communities. We're a film score forum. There's like 5 people who whine and moan that politics aren't allowed and hundreds that are happy it's not. It's not that complicated.

It's probably the one that I bolded here:

I'm sorry, but this isn't correct.
The Throne Room was recorded on takes 127-133.
End Credits with the original intro was recorded on takes 134-143.
And the more familiar revised End Credits opening was recorded on takes 215-219.
There is no reason for them to arbitrarily record a separate clean ending for a cue that they had no intention to present with a clean ending. It makes way more sense that they just split up the densely-orchestrated cue to make it easier to record against the picture.

Yes and no.
Throne Room and End Credits in its original form.
The two clean opening and ending inserts for the crossover.
I forgot that the album edit actually skips ahead to Rolling Thunder.

So is the issue with the 1977 lp that it is mixed differently?

Tallguy reacted to Mr. Hooper in I love this place
So what was the good ol' days of this place? A hotbed of political debate, with a side of John Williams?

Tallguy reacted to Jay in Pet Peeves
That's an easy one. They might be calling to say "I'm just calling to see when you close tonight?" or something else. Indicating that you want to order gets the employee ready to take it down.

At least the movies were a bit like the books, in HTTYD for example they simply changed everything.

I envy you!
I admit I've been drawn into the "Aliens is not 1/10 the film that Alien is" camp. I watched both films for the very first time back to back on Aliens' opening night. (Watched Alien at home and then went to see Aliens in the greatest cinema I have ever been in.) Alien certainly has only increased in my estimation over the years.
We watched Aliens as a family a month or two ago (theatrical cut, thank you) and it freaking blew me away. The story, the characters, the design, and yes, the direction.
True Lies has never taken up much space in my head. I haven't seen Titanic in 20 years. (I'm sure I will soon.) But I was obsessed with it when it came out. I cannot go near Avatar.
The Abyss is one of my top ten favorite movies of all time. This is peak Cameron. Especially the theatrical cut. It's all of Cameron's best and they had to trim all of his indulgences for time. (The extended cut has all of the signposts for T2.)
Interesting...
