Jeshopk got a reaction from Marc in The Patriot "Ann and Gabriel" track 8
Track 8 from the Patriot is Beautiful. The Horn Solo from 2:20 to 3:05 that gives way to the brass chords and crescendo always tugs on my heart strings. I am familiar with Copland?s music, but I think Williams has captured something different here. Something more personal, about a young couple in America before the industrial revolution changed the landscape - a yearning and a love, and a sort of beauty and loneliness ? It?s music that describes the time period, the landscape, the relationship, and the threat of war all in one tapestry.

You didn't understand my comment. I just didn't expect that someone who has seen Star Wars (1977) can actually praise the story of The Force Awakens because it's more or less a copy of Star Wars (1977). I guess that's good news for Disney for it means they can use the same story over and over again. The fans don't mind.

How many times does someone on here have to say "can't you just enjoy it and not analyse and nitpick everything?!" If the world was run according to those people, it would be. "I liked The Force Awakens, what did you think?" "I didn't like it. Goodbye." And we'd all fall into a coma.
I'm not sure whether you realise where you are...this is a place specifically designed for people to create a topic and discuss it ferociously until there's nothing left to discuss except the choice of paint that the First Order had in their toilets.

I still think the tracklist was real. It has Williams' fingerprints on it. It doesn't strike me as something someone would have just made up. If it was, they did a good job. They threw in various Williamsisms, but not to the point where it was like obviously faked. An exclamation point track, a track title previously only used in Always (which is pretty obscure), a "Confession" track (Monsignor and Presumed Innocent, more obscure JW scores), a "March of the Resistance" as opposed to the expected "First Order March", references to things no one understands, which make it seem genuine as a result.

This is an hilarious turn of events.
    Predictions:
    -Williams' source music was rejected.
-"Hamilton" type bluesy piano will make an appearance.
-"Alias" type garage band laptop beatz will make an appearance.
-Ben Burtt will write random non Huttese words to have Disney contract actors speak for ambience.
-Song ends with a busboy dropping their tray.

I too dislike the music of this trailer. I must admit after seeing this trailer I feel worried about the whole film. Not only was the music bad I feel the camera moves around too much. I've been pretty excited thus far but this trailer just didn't do it for me at all. Here's hoping it's just a coorperate cut trailer that isn't very reflective of the feel of the actual movie.

SO why in the hell did they hire and make Williams spend several hours/days recording music for the trailers? for the one minute teaser???!?!

Well, I think they really mangled the force theme, but I guess Han Solo and the Princess is such a great theme it's destroy proof
I'm starting to worry they might alter Williams final score

I ruled out Williams right from the start when they do that random piano bullshit that's in every modern trailer.

There was some debate regarding Williams' involvement with the last trailer (and I still don't believe he did it), but I think we can safely rule out his involvement with this one.

I liked the slow statement of the SW theme at the end. But none of this strikes me as Williams' work.

I guess I must like James Horner's music more than I ever admitted to myself, because when I first heard this, my heart was crushed. I never collected many of his albums, but I always thought of him as a very emotionally effective composer, and would find myself playing his themes on the violin, and choosing to watch movies just because I knew he composed the score. My wife and I were very effected by this bad news. We'll be watching plenty of his movies and collecting more of his music now that he won't grace new movies with his heart and talent anymore. Nobody can deny the deeply touching beauty of his best dramatic music, and the exhilerating adventure of his best action music.

Accents tend to be funny when you move around in your life.
I always thought it was interesting that he thought of writing music as painting. He once pointed out (even here) that it's strange that recurring ideas are accepted in almost every artform as norm (they certainly do in painting) and yet in music world it's seen as a disgrace.

I've accepted for many years now that Horner's reuse of his own material wasnt really him being lazy, but that it was indeed about expanding on ideas that he had formulated before (though like every film composer he obviously reused material because of temp track love, or time pressure).

    From Joe Johnston
To all the fans of James Horner:
Like all of you I was shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic accident that took the life of one of the world's most creative composers and collaborators. One of the highlights of my career was working with James on The Rocketeer. He was very excited to write the score for a film that featured one of his great passions, aviation. James had watched a rough cut of the film and invited me into his studio to hear his idea for the main theme. He sat down at the piano and played the very simple and eloquently beautiful melody, playing the keys with one hand. With a few simple notes he somehow captured the essence of the story and set to music the romance and adventure of another time. After he finished scoring the film I asked him to autograph the sheet music for the Main Title. It is still one of my cherished possessions and his score for The Rocketeer is my all time favorite. It was an unforgettable honor to work with James and I will miss him and all the wonderful scores that we will never be allowed to enjoy. Thank you, James, for all you have given us.

I was utterly wowed by The Hunt, and was amazed at the contemporary, yet superior Ludlow's Demise. I was like, "this guy tops 'em all". Similar thoughts to what Blumenkohl expressed. What a great week that was when The Lost World CD hit shelves.
