TownerFan got a reaction from Will in ACROSS THE STARS - Williams / Mutter collaboration album
Yes, the pattern seems to be that she performs three pieces and then goes for a break. I think you're right that all the above mentioned pieces will be the standard versions. The only one which could be adapted as a violin piece is the Devil's Dance (which was already adapted by JW for violin and piano for Gil Shaham).
As for the pieces recorded that will not end up on the album, who knows... it could be for a wide variety of reasons. I think Markings could appear on a separate release together with other concert pieces performed by ASM. I certainly won't expect a Volume 2 anytime soon.

TownerFan got a reaction from Once in MONSIGNOR - 2019 Intrada Edition features expanded film score
The trumpet main theme as heard in the end credits (opening track on the album) has certainly some of those Southern Italian-esque traits in common with the famous "Godfather Waltz", so perhaps that was a suggestion from the temp track. The similarities however pretty much end there. The score doesn't sound anything like The Godfather.
(I'd love to know what Nino Rota thought of John Williams, though. He was very knowledgeable on Hollywood film composers, Alfred Newman was his favourite).

TownerFan got a reaction from _deleted_ in STAR WARS - Live To Projection Concerts
In this excerpt from a 1997 Pops concert Williams performed a specially-arranged medley of Star Wars music where he used actual bits of cues ("Imperial Attack", "Snow Battle", "This is not a Cave") from the original scores. I think it's the only time he did that. Love that he conducts with a stopwatch at hand

"Markings" was surely recorded. I guess it might be presented on a separate future release featuring other concert pieces.
From pictures and social media postings, also "The Chairman's Waltz" from Geisha was definitely recorded (featuring Lynn Harrell on solo cello). Perhaps it'll be featured as digital-only exclusive, or on a future deluxe edition release.
Mutter also spoke about Leia's Theme and Han Solo and the Princess, but perhaps they weren't recorded.

TownerFan got a reaction from Incanus in MONSIGNOR - 2019 Intrada Edition features expanded film score
Yes, specifically better than the 2007 version (it was sourced from better-quality elements, btw).
I love how "Audience with the Holy Father" basically foreshadows the death of Yoda sequence in Jedi. The score is also Previn-esque in some of the lyrical moments (the variation on the Gloria material at the end of "Santoni's Compassion" reminds me of the theme from The Four Horsemen of Apocalypse.

TownerFan got a reaction from Yavar Moradi in MONSIGNOR - 2019 Intrada Edition features expanded film score
it's all conveniently explained by Mike on the "Tech Talk" section in the liner notes. They're both great sources to work with of course. In my opinion, the film presentation offers a better, more pleasing sonic experience, but we're talking about personal preferences here. One doesn't necessarily supersede the other. I'm glad Mike was able to preserve both presentations and that they're available together on the same album. Couldn't be better than this.

I'd say the film presentation, but keep in mind that they're mostly different takes and mixes than the OST album (like Dracula, for example).

The OST remaster sounds better than the 2007 version, it's warmer and more natural (i.e. less loud).
The film version presentation sounds significantly better, it's a crisp, warm Tomlinson recording that finally shines.

Here's the new installment of the "Legacy Conversations" series: the new episode features an engaging and wide-ranging interview with film composer Joe Kraemer (Jack Reacher, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot), who talks about being inspired by the music of John Williams since childhood and how it led him to a career as a film composer in Hollywood:

Quite true. He's really fired up, especially regarding educating audiences who are judgmental about film music, but careful to disarm his f-bombs! Thanks for another great episode.
